Rotrex problem PLEASE READ

I am already in communication with heath from mpi on this forum. Pretty sure I will get answers, but I cant imagine I am the first one who this happened?

Its probably to do with fluid shear but Im not an expert on it, sure seems that way, how hot was the unit Mulot after it was losing positive drive.

The unit was pretty hot by itself I could not hold my hand on it much longer thant 3-4 seconds, but the fluid was not that hot, just warm.

Let us know what you find out from heath but I would say you are overdriving the blower way to much, pulley combination should be 25-25 which is one to one and blower speeds of 100,000rpms should be somewhere in the vicinity of 24 to 25lbs of boost depending on elevation and clutched for 10'800rpms.

After a few MP exchange we came t oconclusion I need to get a new blower since mine have is not acting as supposed.

I can assure you that I will never see 24 # of boost with 1-1 pulley ratio not evne close.

I too have shreaded that belt (the primary belt from motor to jackshaft is still perfect though). Your belt was probably loose (I assume you were un-aware as I was of the belt's adjustability) and jumped over the teeth as boost climbed and eventually it shreaded.

I don't know if you MPI SC owners are aware of this (I wasn't until I blew the belt from the jack shaft to the blower)but; the belt tension is adjustable on that belt (found this out when calling MPI to ask how one installs a belt in there). I now check mine every 500 miles to make sure the belt is tight. To adjust; you loosen the allen head bolts and pry on the SC similar to a alternator on a car that isn't equipped with the auto tensioner pulley.

not quitewhat you think.

The belt was not loose I even had a 25mm belt instead of the regular 20mm and it was tight enough.

Its really a blower problem, new one is already ordered.
