Hi all....just wanted to tell you about a ride I recently took with a bunch of sleds...we had 2 corssfire 700's, 3 f-6's, 2 f-7's,a zl 600... 2 600 ho doo's, 600 sdi renengade , a 600 ho fusion, 2 rs vectors, and a rage....unfortunately non of us got a chance to trade sleds, would have loved to try a vector...or rage....we put on 125 miles in northern wisconsin..in fair conditions...it was rather warm too...mid to upper 30's.
Impressions:
first off...don't let anybody with sdi tell you they get better gas milage than your vectors...NOT TRUE...we all topped off at the gas station, after about 60 miles...the 600 Hos(both polaris and doo) were the pigs in the group mine included...we put in the most gas over 6 gallons each....the sdi renegade put in 3...and the vectors and rage...put in NONE...they still had over 3/4 of a tank of gas...I was amazed!!! BTW the cats (even with efi)..were thirsty too...we figured the 6oo ho's were around 6-8 mpg...the crossfires were 8-10...the f-7's were around 10...the f-6's were 10-11 mpg, the ol zl did around 12....while the sdi doo was some where around 13-14 mpg (not bad..but nowhere near what they have been claiming at doo talk of 20- 21 mpg, and keep in mind I am a doo rider guys)...the vectors and Rage were 15-17 mpg....impressive....considering we ran across several lakes and were really giving it hard.. POWERWISE....the f-6 is still the sled to beat top speed across the lake...it's close with the 600 hos(polaris and doos...they are dead even)..the vectors and rage were at least a sled length behind everytime...more like two behind my 600 ho, and I was a good 1-2 sled length behind the f-6's...again not bad...but I thought the vectors would have more top end.
I was very impressed with the vectors, if they had 5- 10 more mph on top, I would definately consider buying one...they got great fuel economy, and the riders who had em really liked the ride...I would like to try a gt, and see how it rides...in all honest...I like my rev alot....but...rider forward isn't really needed if you have a good rear suspension...I am very skeptical about yamahas rear suspension I had an 02 Viper...and though I loved the motor in that sled...the rear suspension caused me to switch to ski-doo....that had to be the worst rear suspension in the history of the sport...a total back breaker... if that mono skid is as good as people here claim, and I can get a little more HP or speed out of a vector..I would definately buy one....right now the pluses out weigh the negatives on the vector...again I was very impressed with the vectors..if yamaha can get them to ride as good as my rev, and at least feel as light....I will be switching back to yamaha

Thanks for the post! Of course, You'll need to ride an RS before making the big decision. The suspension has the Viper's beat as far as comfort goes. 'Course that's not hard to do.

The Vector is a fun sled to ride, but if you are look for a few more horses and a modified Rev ride try the Apex, that will make you grin and will have some of those other sleds in your mirror.
