You guys that already have your machines, did you stud? If so, how many and did you stud outside the clip?

Yeah, I liked the advice of 1 per HP with the 1.25" track, but I am using some Double Digger backers this time around, so I'm leaning toward using 144 to match the new Camoplast predrilled track pattern, all in the center. I studded the outside of the track on my last sled, and the track suffered.

Oh, I also meant to ask if anyone's getting much ratcheting with studded Vector tracks. Mine ratcheted a little before studs, but I haven't checked the tension yet.

I have not had any ratcheting.
I have mine adjusted as per spec.

I brought my sled to work and studded the track at lunch. I ended up starting with 96 all in the center with a pair of doubles every other rib in somewhat of a V pattern. I have 48 singles left over to fill in the gaps if 96 is too squirrelly, but thought I'd try it first before drilling all the holes. Those double backers make things nice and rigid. My 600 with 144 felt like a slot car, but I'm in the mood to steer with the rear a little this winter.
