Hello Everyone! I'm new to this forum, however have been involved in motorsports since the late 70's. Just wanted to share my experience with my 09 Venture GT.
At first I thought that I made the most expensive mistake of my life. My Venture felt like a bicycle down the groomed trail and could only corner at about 5 mph. The sled rode so bad that I actually considered trading it for a Cat! LOL!!!
A year later and I made some serious adjustments. 3800 miles later and I am one happy camper! This sled can rail with the rest of the high horsepower sleds. I'm 37 years old and was not willing to comprimise on fun so I was serious about figureing this model out. Here are the very successful changes that I made.
1. Take the load of the front skis, loosen the springs until slightly loose. Set the compression and rebound setting to 6 clicks.
2. Loosen the shock spring the front of the track suspension until the spring is slightly loose with no weight on the rear of the sled. When complete put the sled back down.
3. Tighten the limiter straps all the way to the last hole, you may need to put something under the front of the track to compress a little.
4. Adjust the rear torsion springs to the softest setting.
You are now ready to ride a bottomless, well tracking, non-darting machine. You may still experience some slight darting in the soft trails, however not abnormal as before. The experience of riding a bicycle on the snow trail will be eliminated and you will no longer bounce from one side of the trail to another without warning. I am able to flag fellow snowmobilers now and control my sled with one hand. Imagine that with a new Venture GT! LOL!!!
After many hours of scratching my head I have yet to come up with a permanant solution to the rattly clutch. I've just come to live with it and tell all my friends that my engine is made by John Deere. They laugh and so do I, especially when I pass their 600 2 smoke and loose them on the trail. LOL!!!
Good luck to all of the Venture GT owners, and know that you can dial this machine in to handle safely.
