Just bought my first snowmobile, '06 Rs venture Tf, not impressed with my first ride. The machine feels very unstable like it wants to tip over. Is it my riding style or do I need to make some adjustments, maybe both. I am new to snowmobiling and any help would be great.

How much riding have you done in your life? If you're really new to the sport, snowmobiles do feel very unstable when cornering, you need to counter weight with your body. You can adjust front spring load to start with, try different positions. Then move to the limiter strap. There's no science, mostly trial and error.

no it is not you
it is the model
i got 1 this year, just cracked the 1000mile mark

it is quite tippy compared to all my other sleds
2 things
lots of track , so it is like glued to the ground
no slide effect
and 2
it is built quite high so the center of gravity is up there
my solution; lots of leaning
it is hard to lean with a passenger or 2
plus more high weight , so it gets worse with more people

still a great sled though
i am getting used to driving on 1 ski :jump:

I also just bought my first 4stroke a venture tf but been riding for about 30 yrs.My first ride also found it very tippy compared to other machines but I turned up the preload on the skis and backed of the preload on the front shock of the skid. This helped a lot,so just keep trying. :4STroke:

Play around with your suspension settings. Here is what has been working for me.
1) I shimmed the skis
2) Front shocks are set at 1 notch from full soft
3) I tightened my limiter strap up 1 notch
4) Transfer rod is set at min. (I think this made the biggest difference!)
5) Front shock in track is set in the middle position

I have the 144" track and not the TF version so I'm sure it will be a little different. My weight is 170lbs. dry. My settings were stock and the sled felt very tippy and hard to steer. After playing around with the suspension settings it is reacting better. I still believe I can make the sled handle even better if I keep fine tuning the adjustments.

Mystic Viking,

Sounds like you need to soften everything up. If you are riding single, make sure the white spring blocks are down. Try setting your black spring blocks to medium. Also, set your suspension shock to medium and your front shocks all the way soft.

I know the TF Venture has a longer track than the US RS Venture.

As the others have said there is no science in finding your own comfort level, based on your riding style. It's worth a try. If that doesn't work go even softer.

The trick is to make the suspension work, and bottom out the sled only a minimum amount of times when riding.

It will take a few rides to find what works for you. Don't panic, and work with the sled.

Welcome to the sport! ;)!

At first I found my Venture GT very unstable, it took me a long time to set up the suspension right..I am not sure the extra wide skis are going to stay on the machine..One thing is the engine breaking and ski lift in the corners, I have to learn to ride all over again...

the tf venture doesn't have the two adjustments on the rear spring it only has the black one,the spring its self is heavier then a 144" venture causing the ride to be firm. This model is a cross between a vk and a venture.I ride two up most of the time and the black one is on low and it hasn't bottomed yet. :4STroke:

With these sleds you have to accelerate threw the corners ,slow down before the curve and then accelerate. Also the slower you go the easier they tip .The first time I rode mine it scared the hell out of me ,I nearly tiped it twice the first hour. You will get used to it .

hi their

:ORC I have owned sled of all types.I dont find this model tippy at all.I think it will take some time for you to get use to it.Also when you take the edge of the new carbs it will feel better also.I just came form a artic cat 600efi tour model. Now that was a bit tippy and didnt stir wourt #*$&@.

Any questoins give me an email
