RS Venture skis

I bought my first Yamaha this year,an 05 RS Venture. I just realized it doesn't have the saddless skis like the pictures in the brochure. Mine has the aluminum saddle like the 600 venture pictured in the brochure. Does anybody think one is better than the other or doesn't it make any differance. What type of skis do your Vector or Venture have?

Same ski. In fact, the aluminum saddle is more expensive to make and more durable. Weight is really no different.

That being said, those skis SUCK. Get some Simmons.

I cut a deal to swap the stock skiis for a set of the mountain skiis that are new to this year.I think it cost me an extra $40 but the deep duel keel is agresive and the width is a smoken 7'' and you can vary your ski stance up to 43.8" or down to 41.8" and they are supposed to be lighter too. Its a win win thing. I know I was upset that all the yamy photos show saddleless skis and inverted kyb shocks,We also got hosed on tunel protectors (they want 120 bucks for akit for that.........comes standard on all other rx/rs models.........so lets review this again....Venture owners paid for the most expensive rs model and yet we didnt get the higher grade shocks or the latest in lightwight skiis, or the tunnel protectors. Is that really a fair trade for the144" track,rear seat,back rest. luggage plateform, tall windshield and mirrrors..........and have to pay more

I also have RS Venture and when you put it that way I have to agree with you . The trouble is most Venture owners don't care and that is what they were counting on .

That is what is sooooo frustrating, why doesn't anyone seem to care that yamaha promoted one thing and delivered something less. JUST BECAUSE I have a large family and require two up sleds doesn't mean that I don't need high grade running gear, in fact I require the same if not better running gear than the short tracker because of the higher weight of the sled and the increased loads of passenger and luggage. sorry to ramble on like this but it gets my goat when I get taken advantage of and I am just supposed to suck it up. This industry caters to the sport sled crowd but as a family man I run three sleds (all two ups for the 6 of us)and spend a lot more on snowmobiling than the average Johny throttle jockey racing his pals to the next pub. Don't get me wrong, I love the sled and I hope it rides as good as it looks. Not to mention that the dealer did a very good job of set up. I just realy was counting on having a two up sporty sled. Shocks and skiis are very important for long rides and good handling/ride quality.....after all we all ride the same trails.

Trust me it rides great .Way better than my 97 Venture .

Ride

I hope it rides nice for what we paid. I switched from a Polaris X-tra 12 to this new sled for the new suspension and new engine. I agree it is great looking but looks don't help your back after a long ride especially on the trails I ride. I just had the dealer put tunnel protectors on the sled just in case I decide to stud the track. That set me back $120.00 plus labor to install. And of course as was stated all the other sleds came with the protectors already on the sled. I also added the marginal snow wheel kit, I had quite a few problems with my Polaris slides sticking in low snow or icy conditions only rode 700 miles last year and needed to replace them half way through the season and I was useing graphite. Hopefully that cures the problem. Just waiting for snow now.

The aluminum saddled skis ARE SUPERIOR to the saddleless. The point of saddleless skis is to REDUCE MANUFACTURING COST.
