FYI
just had my first ride with my new rail edges and loved it! didn't slip off once there's a little field engineering required but the m7 rails work great.
Artic Cat Roll, tunnel m7 153 2005
3606-478 rh $31.99
3606-479 lh $30.99
do it!

I tried that before I went to open boards and loved the wider board plus great traction. Folks can also use Doo Summit edges for about the same price if the Doo dealer is closer to them than the AC dealer.

Here is my solution to the problem - combined an open board insert and stronger rails, with a rear foot support - boxed and welded for strength. CNC cut from 1/8 aluminum, and powder coated. Made a huge improvement. Didn't have to remove heat exchangers to install.
One change from the picture is that I have added another cleat at the top of the rear foot rest, and welded to outside edge and inner tab. It was plenty strong as in picture, but I wanted to overbuild that area a bit. Also, there is room to install the factory plastic at the rear.
