I'm Thinking of an RTX, how do I take another 39 lbs off the 539 lbs dry weight of the RTX with No-Reverse. Is it possible? What is possible?

Lightweight 44 inch A-Arms are a start. What 5 lbs

Can you lose any weight with the Ski's? Are USI or C&A's lighter?

Can't lose any weight on the shocks?

How about Battery? Is this wise with EFI? 5lbs here

What about removing the radiator? What 5 lbs?

Light weight muffler? What's the actual weight savings? Another 5

Remove parking brake? 2 lbs.

What else could I do?

I'm just thinking here but Diamond Drive Another 10lbs.

Hyper Lite secondary another what 2 lbs.

That would get me to about 32 lbs. Not a bad start.

Mountain performance has light weight 45" sway arms 7 lbs saving, 2 pounds from spindles, is there stuff any good?

That's another 5, so only two more to go

Anyone make Ti springs for the monoshock?

Hyper lite will not loose any weight, The yamaha clutch is one of the litest on the market. Back to the original question. There is several places to drop weight. Battery for sure, no worries with EFI. front end for sure, radiator yes, Skis....dont think there is much to loose there. I'm sure there is more little things like removing the air box and running filters. Will know alot more when people can get there hands on them. ===SRXSRULE===

Billet wheels actually are slightly heavier. Mountain Perf products are very good. There battery drops 10 lbs! 7 lbs on front end, 2.2 lbs on spindles and you can gut the stock silencer for a 2lb loss. You could drop 35 lbs with out too much trouble ===SRXSRULE===

you would be getting aluminum upper, and you could go with aluminum spindles, My guess would be 6-8 lbs with the lower A arm and the spindles

I forget which one is lightest but 2-3 lbs perhaps
Can't lose any weight on the shocks? the floaters are about as light as you can go. You could add titanium springs and save 4 or so. They have them for the pro action but have not seen them for the mono

you could go with the ytx14abl-bs and save 4.4 and you'd be pretty safe with the 210 ccamps

What about removing the radiator? What 5 lbs?
please do not remove the radiator

Light weight muffler? What's the actual weight savings? Another 5
you get titanium pipes stock, not sure about the muffler tho

Remove parking brake? 2 lbs.
more like 1 I think

What else could I do?
boss seat and aftermarket hood was a weight saver up thru 05 but I think the factory parts are lite now for 06
The air box is molded into the hood or sidepanel on the 06s
Titanium rear axle 2 lbs. My friend out west told me that the diamond drive was not as light as claimed. Replacing a bunch of the larger bolts (a-arm etc) with titanium you could save another 3 lbs. Go to racebolts.com I measured some of the sizes on the front end let me know if you want them

Not sure you would want to remove the air-box. Unless I'm mistaken, it is a cold air induction box, that takes its air from the dash area, behind the windshield??????

Looked like it to me.

So far the most sensible changes look like Aluminum A-rms 7lbs saving, Muffler 10 lbs., Battery 10 lbs, spindles 2 lbs., steering post 2 lbs and parking brake 1 lb. Total about 32 lbs and shouldn't be any durability issues.

Going from an 03-04 to an 05 with a similar weight loss made a huge difference. Chopping another 20lbs 05 to 06 (11 lbs plus no reverse for 20 total) plus another 32 lbs., I think you would notice quite a difference.

What about a Titanium Driveshaft? Are they durable?

These changes add up to about $1,700 U.S. the Driveshaft gets you to $2,100 pretty reasonable for a 32 lb weight loss. I'm into road bikes as well where it costs roughly $1 per gram in weight loss. This works out to about $.14 per gram, not bad.

Need to polish it up a bit LOL. The stock battery is 11lbs and some change I'm pretty sure.
You cant save 10.
The steering posts I think have been changed and are lighter for 06.
With the vector which has a MUCH heavier pipe than the 4 strokes you can save 10 lbs. But titanium is stock here so I really think 10 is optimistic.
Nice thread. It is what I do when I am falling asleep. count weight savings :drink:

Install an old Phazer engine :tg:

Absolutely, and the power from that Phazer engine is second to none. This also means you can get rid of your entire cooling system. One of the TY riders did it to his RX last season and had great results. ;)!
