Hi guys, i have been reading this forum for a while now, but hardly post (pretty 'fresh' when it comes to 4-strokes
). but i have been reading about guys 'setting back' the skids on their 136's to make them into 144's. I am really interested in doing the jump to a 144 on my 08 LTX and go with a 1-3/4 track. i was just wondering if there are instructions on anywhere on how to move back the skid.
Also, do i need a tunnel extension or is the LTX tunnel long enough to tuck a 144 under it?
And by the way

I think it's four inches back and one inch down -- where you drill your new mounting location hole. At least for the 136 mono suspension, which you have. You also need to remount the drop brackets lower by an inch. Then to fit a 1.75 inch lug track you'll have to cut or drill out the tunnel protectors. If you swap out your drivers from the stock 9 tooth to 8 tooth, which many do, you can fit up to a two inch lug track. And yes, you will definitely first want to install a better and long tunnel extension with a kick up for better fittament and off trail performance.

It will be one of the best mods you will do to your sled. It will pull more weight back leveling the sled out. Move all four mounts back 4" and down 3/4". You will have to drill new holes for the bolts(use harden bolts). You will need a tunnel ext, I like Tom Hartmanns ext. Use all steel rivets. Here the link to the one I did. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=
The only thing I dont like about setting the skid back on the 4 strokes is the the the added ski pressure sucks and you have a lot less weight transfer taking away the fun factor.

If done right, it should be less if not the same. By pulling more weight to the rear bumper. By only dropping it 3/4" you keep the sled leave.
No offense but anytime you set back a skid you gain more ski pressure. Its worse on the nytros then the apexs thats why ulcer racing was advising not to do it to nytros because there almost undrivable on the trail.

I've been told setting the skid back is a good way to go from 121 to 128. Haven't done that mself, yet anyways.
