Simmons Gen II Skis

Anyone out there currently running the Simmons Gen II skis? I'm curious width wise if they are too excessive being 10 inches wide and all! Also, if you are running them what are there trail manners like. I would assume they are the same as the Gen I's.
Real world experience please, I would prefer no speculators.

i tried a 09 nytro mtx with them on last year on a demo ride, i personally liked them and bought 2 pairs, one for my 07 phazer mountain lite and the second set for the 09 nytro xtx ( have yet to try them ) i found the mountain ski's on the phazer not bad but when you let off the throttle on loose powder the nose dove like a 10 m diver. when i did the same thing with the mtx with gen 2s i would coast down very similar to the freinds 800 dragon with stock ski's. just my opinion hope this helps

Did you find the extended "wings" on the side of the skis to be flimsy at all? I feel like the Gen II's could be the ideal ski to tame the Nytro darting as well as get the Nytro floating better in the powder.
One more thing, did you find it any more diffcult to boondock with a 10" wide ski vs. the stock ski? I feel like added flotation will allow the Nytro to be leaned over just as easy since it would now be sitting higher in the soft stuff compared to the stock toothpicks.

I put the Gen 2 ski's on last season and was pleased with them, I will be getting a second pair this year for my 2nd XTX. They really float well. I have been in powder so deep that when I stood up on the sled it was going past just below my knee's and it just keep going never have had the XTX stuck with those skis on (I think I just jinked myself with that statement). but it is the honest truth. Alot of the guys I ride with will just sit on the trail and watch me when I go off and play in the powder. They don't want to even try and follow.

Thanks for the help guys. I don't doubt they look a little goofy being that there so wide, but from a darting and flotation perpective, they appear to be the right choice for me. Gen II's it is. Just need a Backcountry and I'm all set. Bring on the snow.

I think we are thinking the same way, I have a 1.75 backcountry track on the way.

I'm considering a pair of these as well.

Anyone have any updated opinions on a pair of these and how they behave in various snow conditions? I plan on keeping my stockers which I have set up perfectly for hard pack and trail riding but I just want something better for my trips to the steep and deep. However even those trips involve a fair bit of trail so I don't want these if they are horrible on the trail.

Another question.

Can I mount Simmons Gen 2 on an RTX with the stock rubber and spacers or do I need to get new rubber and spacers from a MTX?

That looks like RTX rubber to me, but those are Simmons Flexi, not Gen 2. Is there a difference in the mounts?
