Ski Question

Hello All,this has probably been talked about,I just cant find it....My question is...I hear alot about shimming the ski's,can someone give me a quick lesson as to what this is? I also read alot about darting and heavy steering,etc...have an 07 Attak with USI ski's,maybe its the way I have mine set up or maybe just luck,but I have never had an issue with steer/darting[hope Im not jinxing myself]...Thank You for the info in advance....Dean
