Sled on It's Side for Maintanence?

Is there a problem with laying the sled on it's left or right side to do work? Concern is for oil going where it shouldn't.

the owners manual states not to lay the sled on the clutch side (because fuel may leak from the vent) - so i put my sled on the oil tank side - i didin't have a problem but it's still a good idea to check all of your fluids when you are done - (yamaha sells a stand to rest your handlebar on so they must feel it is ok)

also if its on the clutch side the little bit of engine oil bleeds out of the breather box and into the airbox but not too big a deal

Might want to put a block of wood or somthing under the handlebar, I have heard of people cracking some of the plastic parts (i.e. headlight pod)

The demo guys in Muni last year were doing alot of maintenance with the sleds on the side, just can't recall which side.

The body work is lighter on Delta II so thus it is more flimsy.
I'd put a block of wood under the tip of the handlebar (Pat's Yamaha in Greenland MI does this).

Interestingly Yamaha sells a stand that does the same thing (but better) so they must endorse this as a preferred method

Used to help prevent machine damage when machine is tipped on its side for maintenance. Simply put handlebar end of machine in handlebar stand. Stand is adjustable to accept all handlebar heights.

I put it on the Lt or clutch side with 2x4 on steering post when taking the mono in and out seemed to start and run fine after, well now I know.

Laying on right side makes it a little difficult to work on the chaincase. Of coarse this can be done with sled sitting upright. Thanks for all of the replies, good infos.---Jim
