Slop in the steering column

Friend rode my 2006 Apex Mtn Se this weekend with 3000 miles and noticed significant slop in the steeing column. 1/2 inch when turning both ways. Been that way since I bought it so I don't know any different. He rides Apex shorty.

What am I looking for-bad bushings, something bent?

It has been darting a lot. Could that come from spreading the skis further apart?

Most apex sleds had this problem with the bushes. Ive redone mine and im sure others have too.
You will have to find which ones are slopy and change them out.
Id would say its the black plastic ones on the steering shaft.

Are they hard to get at?

Not to bad but you do need to remove a few parts to get to them.

My dealer says some of it may be coming from ball joints and there is a recall.

yep that too, the bottom joints could be kaned. I did replace a few of mine last year.

mine had a lil slop slop in it on the showroom floor nothing serious though.

Mine had slop since new as well. This summer i'll dive in and look around but although annoying, i dont notice it when i ride.
