SLP Powder Pro skis

I am thinking of swithcing to Powder Pros.

Anyone use them in the steep and deep? ANybody know for sure how much they weigh? And who has the best price?

Great, sounds like I made the right choice. I got yellow with red saddles and handles. Just hope it doesn't look like Ronald McDonald's sled with them on.

I've got them sitting on a shelf , I'll see if I can get them weighed. They worked great in the steep and deep, and on the trail too. Had them on when we rode last year in McCall. I thought someone on snowest had them on sale.

I thought you were running the simmons. What dont you like about them and Why are you switching? Just curious, i just bought the simmons as that is all i have ever used and wondering if i made the right choice for the Rx-1.

PS - How much snow you got in McCall? We got about 15" at tollgate right now and about 25" at anthony lakes, going riding there tomorrow!!

powder ski's

just been reading your posts about your slp and simmons ski's.i've been looking around for different ski's for the rx1 mountain for the last year,since we do a lot of sledding in revy.i think i have come up with the cheapest solution.i bought the rev powder ski's,7 inches wide,and the ski-doo dealer here in westlock alberta,installed them for 410 dollars canadian.he had to do a little machining and also installed the old yamaha handles from my old ski's.so now the new hybred name YAMIDOO-SKI.a couple of friends of mine have these ski's on their rev's and they perform awesome.this change will give me 42 square inches of extra flotation.also changed to the new holtz springs and put a shutoffvalve on the inline for the carbcoolant.especially when temperatures are warmer the fuel evaporates to much.well i'm going to robb this weekend,west of edson,and will let you guys know how things perform.paparattler.

I ended up buying both the Simmons and Powder Pro skis, that way I will know which ones work best in my conditions and my riding style.

On my home food scale this is how much one complete ski with loop, saddle, carbide and mounting bolt weighs:

Stock RX-1 --7lb 15oz 5.25'' wide.
Simmons ---8lb 5oz 6.00'' wide.
Powder Pros -7lb 6oz 7.00'' wide. :wink:

The powder pros have 6'' carbides, simmons 5''and rx1 3''.

Best price I found anywhere on the Powder Pros was from Greg at motofrugals.com 801-224-5073. For everything including 6'' carbines it was $314.90 this included free shipping.

Yes I have Simmons now. The reason I have been thinking about the PP's is just because of all the good things I have been hearing about them. Being an inch wider they may float better than the simmons. It's hard to beat the simmons when it comes to not darting though. I was looking at the potential weight savings too, but someone pointed out to me that the PP's have an area where they can retain snow on top of them thus gaining back a lot of the weight savings over the simmons which do not retain snow.

Spray- I don't live in the mountains but today I was riding in the wind drifts around here(MN) that where all over 3ft. deep. I tried both the powder pro's and the stock ski back to back(I have a warrior) The PP EASILY floated way MORE than the stock ski's. Not only that but you can turn in the powder like your on a groomed trail. I couldn't believe it at first. THEY ARE SOME AWSOME SKI'S!!! I don't think I will ever ride a sled without them. Not only that but they're awsome on the trails as well!

I wouldn't say its fair to compare anything to the stock skis. The skis that RX1 came with plain SUCK!

Spray: I wouldn't expect the SLPs to float as well as Simmons even being an inch wider simply because the inverted shape of the Simmons will tend to hold snow IN rather than pushing it OUT.

Have you seen the shape of Powder Pro's from the bottom?

Yeah, they're a pretty typical shape without much to distinguish them from other single bar skis, except they have a couple of MINOR lips. Generally shaped like this: -\/-
