SLP PowderPros vs. Simmons GEN 2

Is there anyone out there that has experienced both of these skis on there apex? I run powder pros right now that work great on my apex but interested in maybe trying the simmons gen 2. What were the pros and cons between the two set ups and which one did you decide to use. Any comments welcome

I haven't tried the slp but i have the gen II. the cons of them are setup snow (Hard & crusty)and side hilling. really make it tuff to get the sled up on a steep side hill when going strait across. sled really wants to head downhill. but other than that i love them. On the trail it seems like your sled is on a rail no darting or ski lift in the corners

Would you mind giving your experience with the SLP powder pro? Are they good both on and off trail? Do they turn well in deep snow? How about flotation? I'm looking for a good all around ski for my VL.

Off Trail: These skis perform great. They get the front end up on top of the snow alot fast then the stock skis. Turning in powder is not an issue with these skis even on the heavy front end of the apex. When i first bought the sled i hated it because it would not turn at all. I finally got the mounting brackets for the powder pros and the change in handling was night and day difference. The only issue i have had is when riding in spring conditions when the snow gets crusted over they catch on decel at times and can jerk you. They seem to show this characteristic on rider forward sleds compared to the old style sled like the sx chassis.

On Trail: They are an aggressive ski the harder you push them the better they respond. They dig in the corners in loose and sugary snow conditions with no pushing. On hard pack snow with the trail set up they do require more steering effort then stock skis but the trade off is worth it. I ride with my transfer almost all the way open and do have some inside ski lift on hard snow days when im not riding the sled hard. With the transfer down the sled rails the corners. I have no darting issues and the skis are stock with 6 inch carbides no shims. Best part on the trail is they do not track any other ski lines unless you ride with others that have powder pros.

I really like these skis and have rode with them since 2003. I have had then on 4 different sleds 700 SX, Rev, Rev Renegade, and Apex. Four other people i ride with have purchased them after seeing how much they improved the handling of the sled. IMO they are a great improvement over any OEM ski.
