Went out for one last ride yesterday. Trails were about 90% excellent and groomed. Lots of snow pack, sunny clear skys, temp in the mid 30s. The view from the top of little blue mtn was the best I've seen this season.. Then while ripping down the trail about 50 miles from home I was on a long, straight, wide section doing about 75-80mph when all of a sudden a deer on full run ran straight in front of me. Without even a second to react I hit the deer at about 80mph. Lucky I didn't get hurt (other than a little back ache today) but the sled is another story. Smashed both headlights and took the headlight pod right off the frame, smashed the hood and right side pannel. Broke my charge tube for my yamcharger in half in two places, pushed back the lower right side pannel so nothing lines up, and broke lots of the plastic tabs and closures that hold the pannels on. I managed to get the sled out of the woods and back home but now I need lots of parts... Sled still drives nice and straight but I need to do some serious fixing... I also noticed it start backfiring a little bit after the impact. Not sure but I think I either have bad donuts again (replaced them 3000 miles ago but might need it again) or I damaged something else (Y pipe??) in the collision... The deer didn't fair so well, it was killed instantly, It didn't even try to move after it was hit. I actually had 2 deer turds inside my plastics in the bottom of my sled and deer chit on the back of the seat, it literally blew the #*$&@ out of this deer.... It was just a little 120lbs ish deer but it sure did alot of damage... Anyone got spare parts sitting around they want to give me a deal on?????

:o| :o| :o| #$%&* #$%&*

I almost had the exact same thing happen to me last year. I was running a RR grade at WOT throttle in triple digits when 2 deer ran out in front of me and in a blink of an eye I passed between the two. Both me and the deer about sh*t ourselves. Ever since this near accident it has always been in the back of my mind when running that fast on trails. Glad to hear your OK sucks about the sled though.

Glad you were OK!

I had the same thing happen to my ( 1st ) 07 Attak. My son was on it (he too was OK), but the sled rolled and was totaled by my insurance company.

I bought my current 07 Attak and the salvaged sled from them and parted it out.

I'm sure you'll be able to find the parts you need. I have a few odds and ends still laying around. Let me know specifically what you need and we'll see.

Here is a pic:

glad to here you ok.

I have a few parts laying around if your interested. Both side panels, black hood, possibly lower plastics. All off a 07 rtx.

I'm not far from the adks, just outside of Johnstown.

Nick - glad to hear your your all right. The sled parts can always be replaced. Try carfrom.us they had every salvaged apex listed and this time of year , they got to be going cheap.

I've wrecked my sled on my last trip of the season twice.

Nick - Glad you are OK. You are in good company.

Doug - Seeing your pictures makes me ill. I just bought an 07 Attack and thinking about what could happen to my baby turns my stomach.
I hope you got her all fixed up and running.

Our trails are not wide enough or long enough to go that fast. I only do that kind of speed on wide open fields or lakes. Your one lucky dude and glad to hear your ok. Someone was looking out for you that day.

Nope. That sled as totaled. The pictured sled had only 180 miles on it. I bought it back from my insurance company for the salvage value (25% the cost of a new one) and then parted it out.

I also went right back to my dealer and bought another identical sled to the wrecked one.

Thinking about what could have happened to my son turns my stomach... machines can be replaced/repaired.

Thankfully Im ok. I'll be stripping the sled apart this weekend to see how extensive the damage is. The charge tube from the yamcharger is split in half and the housing is rotated partially. Not sure if the impeller housing is damaged or not...

Glad to hear your ok. Doesn,t your comprehensive part of your insurance cover that accident ? Up in Ontario, as long as the police report states the deer hit you, and not that you hit it, the sled is covered under comp.

I don't think I have anything but liability. I can't remember for sure so I'll call em on monday to double check but I think it was $1100/year for full coverage and $79/year for just the basic liability so I don't think I got the full coverage. If its comp I'd claim it but if collision I would rather not. Its cheaper in the long run to just buy the parts and fix it than it is to claim it on collision... Im gunna take a ride to a couple yammi dealers today just to see what they have for apexs. I might just fix it up and trade it... Either that Or Im stripping it to the frame this summer and going through everything and fixing everything.. If I do that though I probably better keep it at least 2 more seasons....

Here are a few pics I took right when it happened. Most of the damage is underneith. The hood and headlight pod are just sitting there, nothing holding them down anymore. Reverse linkage is definately all messed up...
