All I am reading about is the Nytro vrs the XP800, or the XP against the world. Every once in a while you see the Apex still in the running but that is it. Dosn't any body race a RX1 any more. I am sure there is some very good running RX1's that would give these sleds a run for there money. I have a set up 05 that I only got out on a couple times last year. I did get a chance to run several sleds and only got beat by a BB Doo twin with twin pipes. I have a little problem with hook up and if it hooked as hard as the doo I think it would have been a race. I beat a lake ported SRX (no studs) , BB 780 SRX( no studs), a lake ported, carbs bored, tripple piped SX 700, F7, 2 ZR 800, one was twin piped, after that race the ZR 900 declined a race saying he would just be wasting gas. Oh and I also run a Apex, don't know any thing about it. I drove away from him from a dead stop and roll on. Wanted to talk to him but he never stopped after the race.
So am I just dreaming, thinking I have a chance with one of these sleds, or is the RX1 a has been?

Theres nothing left for us to race except ourselves. I have the same deal mine just gets stronger and there is less that can run with it. I had an Apex and my rx-1 was faster then.
Last year with the stock rx motor just clutched & piped she took 2nd in class at knife lake losing to a turbo Apex by .006. The RX had it by 4 lengths at 1/2 track and got freight trained in the last 100 feet. This yr the Apex is toast unless they added nitrous to get it off the line.
I am just dialing in the new motor, suspension, clutching and fuel injection but this thing is so hard off the line now with all the settings I used last yr I can't get the front skis on the ground till well over 100mph on GPS.
All races depend on reaction time hookup gearing and clutching. I feel on a level straight away weight is not a big issue and can actually help on launch.
I think the rider forward and higher (newer sleds) creates less weight on the rear and more wind resistance. In top fuel they load all the weight over the rear wheels and just enough out front to keep it from flipping over.
I have ridden the new 800 XP, polaris 700 and a buddy just picked up an Arctic Cat 1000 and none have the wow factor. They may be getting 165 hp out of the XP but it isn't going to the track.
I am looking forward to the new venue in the UP this 1st and 2nd weekend in January. The Red Light Ralley has been replaced with an event all over the area with radar runs, drags, WSA snocross event and factory rides. I am hoping to be ready and lay down some good numbers.

Just bought an FX Nytro. It pulls like frieght train. But, I love my 05 RX-1. All I have done is Bender Clutch, with ECP intake and it is 1st or second on the like all year. Thing hooks up with a rip saw and no studs.I give up at least 100 lbs. so if I got my fat butt in shape it would even go faster. Conquests:
Ported Big Bore SRX
07 MXZX 800
O6 and 07 APEX RTX
All Arcticats
All confusions as well

1-1/4" shotgun hooks up sooooo much better than the ripsaw on my 05 or my buddies Apex.

I am running the stock 1 1/4 ripsaw. Hooks good on hard back snow but on a hardpack/ice road not so good. I have 192 trails studs. The sled that beat me had a mix of trial and chissels.
Never heard of a shotgun track.
