I have searched for past 2 hours what will work to limit hyfax wear. I have already added ski scratchers. I planned on adding a extra wheel toward the real wheel. Need some honest opinions.

Options
Excel wheels (may bend rails)
pionners kit
Schmidt brothers kit

Bigger wheels or drop brackets will help. Also yamaho has out a new hyfax that is said to go 8,000 - 10,000 miles. They are about $60.00 ea. I guess time will tell if they are worth it. My biggest concearn with the new strips would be the fact that I beleive they may wear out yoiur track clips quicker. Yamaha claims that they have tested this product, and would not put out a product that would cause problems. Well, they put out a sled that wears hyfax too fast for years now, and it got even worse in 2011 with the XTX apex. Time will tell the whole story.

There has been alot written on this ....But I will tell you what has worked for me , I have installed SLP's wear pads on my track to make it act as a fully cliped track and a low snow wheel kit from yamaha (the small little wheel) at the front bend in the rails and it made a big improvment. I run my track a little bit loose from what spec is and will note the sled has been in good conditions most all the time. Lots of veiwpoints on this subject from bigger wheels to aftermarket hyfax fully cliped vs non ect.
I have 5000m on my current hyfax and no need to replace.
Rich Kay.
