Sons sled 98 vmax xtc or 05 rx1 ?

14 year old better off on a 98 vmax xtc or 05 rx1. 14 year old son is a responsible rider and handles his current Vmax xtc 700 very well. Have a chance to purchase an 05 rx1 at a steal of a price. Thinking the newer rx1 would have better suspension and an engine that would last better than the 700 that has 7000 miles on it. It would also be a little easier to find parts if needed. The question is would it be too much power for a responsible( so far) 14 year old . I could get 1700 or so for the vmax pretty easily and the rx1 is available at 2400.

I would go with the RX1. My son is 12 and rides my RX1 all the time. If he is responsible enough then I would be all over the 4 stroke. Just my .02 cents.

I am leaning that way. If that old xtc 700 has a major issue I would hate to have dump a lot into it. I ride an 05 rx1 now , I should jump on his 700 and compare the handling in twisties and bumps.
