sooooo. call me impatient, but these delays and AC quality concerns are burning a hole in my brain. Despite my spring order on the LTX SE, my dealer has a new FX Nytro XTX 1.75 leftover they are willing to sell me for 9K. How much different are these two sleds? I am sure many of you are coming off a Nytro to go to the new SR Viper. I have never drove a nytro and have heard that they are better suited for bigger guys (not me). I am 5'8/175....Any thoughts?

I'd stick with the Viper man, it'll be way more suited to our trails.

Speaking from experience, the procross chassis is light years ahead of the Nytro chassis. Cat does have quality control issues but at least you won't have to re-engineer the sled to make it work. You will be a much better rider on the Viper. It's handling characteristics are that good. Just make sure you really check it over before riding it. Loose bolts, hose routing, wiring, etc. The fit/finish is not as nice, but that only counts when she's parked in the garage.

I had a Nytro stick with the Viper. The handling will be much better with less invested to make it handle the way you want.

I had a nytro also , stick with the viper ! That's what I say !
Do a search on the nytro , star suspension , front end , shock revalve , over heating , sub frame , hot grips ( they say there better but some say they still sucked ) , hyfax wear , steering relocate there maybe more but there's a few to get started
My nytro on dream meter said 102 one time , so gps maybe low 90's
You may love that nytro you may not , best thing to do is ride them back to back them fig witch one to get

Thanks for all the feedback guys. This is all good information. I'll stick with the viper, but now I am thinking I should find a used nytro to buy as a buddy sled.

Look for a vector
I've got a nytro and have ridden my buddy's F1100T. I love my nytro and I'd say as it is set up, it rides pretty comparably with his sled. That said, as stated above, mine has all sorts of upgrades to make it ride that way, whereas his rode quite nicely right out of the box. If I were to buy new today, I'd have to go with the viper.

Keep the viper. You can always dump it for a nytro later

There's no question stick with the Viper, but a Vector over a brand new XTX Backcountry? You must have really hated your Nytro09nytro said:Look for a vector

It was a love hate the whole time I had it,I do know I myself would never buy another one if that's what you are asking , for the most part I liked the sledtoyota4runner said:There's no question stick with the Viper, but a Vector over a brand new XTX Backcountry? Anyways I'm thinking buddy sled is most likely going to be a girl or wife or some one that hasn't rode to much , that's why I said a vector , much warmer and more trail friendly I think

That being said, I'd have to agree. A Nytro isn't very female or amateur friendly. If I could get my hands on a 13 backcountry leftover in Canada for 9 grand new, It would be in my garage already. That's crazy!

I also had a Nytro XTX and I had a lot of mods. And I'm 6 foot tall and 230, and sometimes with slow speeds the Nytro was hard to drive. When following my wife at slower speeds the Nytro was real heavy steering. I had tuner skis and DuPont hyfax. Never really had any issue with hyfax but did have 3 marginal wheel kits. I drove the Viper LTX SE and it was way better. I loved my Nytro it would take a beating like no other! I had no problems with belts or any suspension. I ordered a Viper LTX SE and am waiting like you. But I figure we don't have any snow so I don't care... Right now anyway. I am also getting a MPI turbo for the Viper right away. It took 3000 dollars to make my nytro keep up with 800's so what's another few hundred bucks. With header power commander 5 and k&n filters and Hauck clutch #5 would see 114mph. Don't really know how fast on GPS. Maybe 105 or so...but I would beat any stock 800 on the market! I hope the Viper will be as durable and if it is will be a great sled.

The nytro is a beast that needs to me tamed. It takes a lot of time and money to make them right. They are a very active sled. Fun yes, but active. You are not going to be a lazy rider like on a 1200 doo with a nytro. You can make them right, but by the time you modify the front end, shocks, and rear end you could of bought a cat turbo, doo 1200, or viper, and used the couple grand difference for for power adders on one of those suspensions that are close to great. I have tons wrapped up in my nytro. New z bros front end, star relocation kit, shocks redone, boosted etc etc etc, and I know I could get nowhere what I want for it, and she finally rides like a great date now. The nytro has a stigma even if you do get them running great like mine.
