- 2018 Yamaha Sidewinder RTX LE
So... literally ran into trouble on my recent trip to the northwoods, resulting in a totaled 2018 RTX LE, may she rest in peace. Icy corners and my own inattentiveness got the better of me. Broke my heart, I put tons off work into that sled and had it running perfectly. Fortunately no injuries, not even a scratch on me, so I really can't complain too much. But the fact remains that I need a replacement, even if the sting hasn't quite worn off yet.
My question centers around the key differences between the '24 and '25 offerings for both the SRX and the LTX LE. I've decided that I definitely want to give power steering a try, so I don't want to deviate between these two models and feel that they are most likely going to offer me the same ride quality I had with my '18. I'm not ready to give up on riding Yamaha, we've had them since the 80's and I want something that I can make last for quite awhile.
Curious on everyone's thoughts on which they prefer? The sled is going to be studded regardless, so I'm not too worried about the 1" track on the SRX and if it's too awful bad, I'll swap it out. I've heard from others that due to the lowered front end on the SRX, it doesn't handle the winding trails nearly as well as the LTX LE. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Glad you're ok.
If i was buying a new trail sled I'd go with the ltx-le and here's why... 1.25 track, 24-50 gearing, qs3rs in all four locations.

I agree with the LTX LE, better shocks and a 1.25 rip 2. I really like the 25 SRX color scheme but the shock package is not quit up to par with QS3'r found on the LTX LE. I wasn't crazy about the 25 LTX LE color scheme but it's wearing on me since I get to look at it every day sitting in the garage. My brother is in the process of buying a 24 LTX LE (used), I really like that color scheme. I also have a 50th LTX LE so saddens me to see yours wrapped around a tree but glad you're OK.
DMC....are you sure about the 24-50 gearing? If so, I like it.

Glad you are OK and didnt get hurt!
The Yamaha's come with 21-41 gearing both the LE and the SRX.
My preference is the LE, I had to have the QS3'R's. Myself after having a 23 SRX on order I changed my mind when I found out the 23 LE was coming with them again after they were supposed to come with std QS3 in the brochures because of COVID supply issues that year.

I went for 1 trail ride this year and bent my driveshaft and my avid drivers. My sled is never seeing a trail again. Haha. I'm planning on buying another just for the trail.Umm do you even know how to ride SLOW on the trails these days! Lol
Oh and I tried a winder with 24-50 gearing and it was super fun .
