Are the advantages of having the air filter outside of the hood worth it on a super charger? And, does anyone know what the jet size difference would be if this is done? I'm wondering if my loss of power in the deep and steep is because of starving for air.

Anytime you draw outside(colder) air you are going to make more power.I would be t its from your undertunnel exhaust why it's bogging in the deep powder.

It only seems to do it when I'm under heavy load. I also had thought about that, but I was in deep snow for a week and it only happened a couple of times. We were looking at the hood vents, and there really isn't Much air coming in near the air intake. Any clue what my jetting will jump by bringing the filter outside. I would like to leave the exhaust. I like the sound and now I can carry 3 gallons of gas.

I bet you any money it is the under tunnel exhaust, had the same problem .

That said there is also a huge gain to be had by going outside for the air .

If you do both go above the tunnel with the exhaust and fresh air intake you will never look back.

On my turbo RX1 it was about the same as 2 pounds more boost on long pulls to have fresh cold air with a oversize filter.

We have to be careful with exhaust. In NY you can't touch your stock exhaust. It's not to loud now and if they don't know better they leave me alone.

I hear you there.

The under tunnel they have however will always give you a bid of a bog

when the going gets tough.

I guess you just have to live with it.

The exell over the top exhaust looks very clean and may just be your tiket

if living with it is not possible.

Thats what was on the sled in my avatar. That was too non-stock looking. I'll just deal with it.

?s cause I dont know. How is the exhaust in the tunnel causing the issue. I ride in the deep powder of BC, feet on feet of snow. Dont have any issues. I used to have a hindle pipe out under the seat, but that was with a stock tank. Now I have a turbo nyrto tank on my RX1 with an Impulse header, its dumps into the tunnel/track. I don't notice any difference in exhaust routing. Alpine, Diamond S, Impulse, Powderlites all dump there exhaust into the tunnel/track. All these turbos are in the Mountian market, where snow is the deepest. Where is your supercharger dumping the exhaust? Only asking ?'s for more info is all.

Before I modified my intake I would bog in deep powder constantly. My first approach was to cut a hole in the hood directly above the intake and use a screen to see if that would help. It was better until the powder covered the hood. So, I built an intake that puts the entire MPI filter above the hood. Now I don't even worry about powder bog, it truly made that big of a difference.

The turbos that dump on the front of the track do not seem to have any problems at all.

Only the under tunnel exhausts for normaly aspirated or Superchargers that have a muffler going to the back have the problem.
