I was wondering does Yamaha offer a suspension book and video for the mono skid like they had for the pro action?

I was wondering the same thing. the owners manual is practly usless. (take to dealer to change the filter) come on.... How about some real suspension setup information. (preload, rider sag, static sag. transfer adjustments, optional springs for different rider weights. SOMEONE HELP UP OUT. :o|

Leaddog,, I guess if you do the Muni ride I can help you with setting up your suspension.

Just picked up my Apex GT. My dealer showed me how to set the mono spring up for rider weight. Yamaha sets it up out of the box for a 200 lb. rider. here's how. Two people needed for this. Lift up the back of the sled just high enough to fully extend suspension. Measure the lenght of the spring and write it down mine was 10 5/8 in. Then sit on the seat and bounce a few times to get the ride height where it wants to be and have someone measure the lenght of the spring again. Mine was 8 3/4 in. I'm 210 lbs. Now subtract the difference 1 7/8 in. or 1.875 and divide by .040 which is 1 mm. which equals 46.875 mm. Yamaha is looking for 40-50mm.
Thats where it should be. If you are heavier and need more spring rate use part number GYT-8GD47-00-00.

Yami recently had a tech seminar and one of the things they talked about was suspension set-up. I picked up my attak before the seminar so it was setup wrong. The spring preload and control rod settings are different for MY weight. If you weigh 200lbs with gear on you will not need to change anything. Call your dealer and they should have all that new info.

In regard to a suspension manual, the do not have one. This info came from my dealer.

Thanks
Matt
;)!

So, how is it it setup for guy like me, 165-170 with gear on? How are you supposed to setup this rear skid for your weight. I know you have too change springs and rods, but why and how would be great.

For anyone one that has a dealer thats big into sleds and attended the snow tech seminar, they received a book called "Snowmobile Tech Update Book" I saw the book at the Big East show at the Yammi booth. There was a section on the suspension with set-up instructions section 3-9. If you can get a copy of this section it shows the whole set-up procedure, if possible someone please post to help us all out. My dealer did not attend the seminar or I could probably get it. I think Yammi really should have supplied this info especially since we all paid about $9000+ I think they owe it to us.

You can get a service manual from yamaha. Mine is on back order but there is tons of info in there. They are kind of pricey but the owners manual is usless for anything beond genaral maintianence.
