After my demo ride getting a new viper is paramount in my mind. I'm thinking about getting the LTX standard for the tall shield and storage bag that I would be buying anyway. My problem is I'm not sure its right for me. I do ride mostly groomed trails but the problem is our grooming is in a roadside ditch and allot of it isn't done every week so the trails can get pretty rough with the wind drifting them in and the traffic on them. Is the LTX going to do this well or am I going to bottom this thing on every crossing I take at 60mph? I do like to stand allot when its rough or at field crossings and I'm also wondering if the bars and risers are the same on the LTX vs the SE models. They had only 1 RTX SE and a pair of XTX SE at te demo so I've never rode what I'm thinking of ordering. I consider myself a fairly aggressive rider I guess, no one is usually waiting for me in my group but I'm also a big guy at 300#+. Don't want to regret my decision. My Nytro is a RTX model. It rarely bottoms for me but occasionally does. It does well in the rough for me if I stand up but find it too harsh in the intermediate choppy stuff if that makes sense. Any opinions appreciated.

I would definitely consider the SE model at your weight. The suspension is going to take a beating, and you will need something to be able to absorb that added weight.

I am also thinking the same as you, like the windshield and storage on the ltx, not a fan of fox floats, but I like the looks of the ltx se.At 185 lbs, the base should be ok for me, but sometimes the trails I ride can get rough. In canada the se lists for $1000 more than the base ltx.

Shocks in the rear are listed the same in the LTX and all the SE models. Not really seeing an issue unless they are valved that soft. The LTX SE also lists a 1.5" track which I don't want. Would like more comfort then I currently have and judging by my demo ride they will all give me that. Decisions decisions

The LTX SE actually will have a 1.25" lug track. It's a misprint online that Yamaha has not corrected yet. Camoplast doesn't offer a 137x1.50 in the Ripsaw ll.
