Went riding 2 weeks ago with wife and a friend in which we covered approx. 110 miles in like three hours and decided to fill up the sleds as we are passing a gas station.

My friend rides a 2002 800 xc twin which is jetted and clutched and runs pretty good. He puts in $26.50 in fuel and one quart of oil which is like $9.00 for a total of $35.50

We pull up with a stock 2006 ApexGT and a 2006 Rage and we fill up both sleds for $ 31.00.

Not really paying attention at this time ,

My buddy looks at me and says it cost me $ 4.50 more to fill up my sled more money than it cost you to fill up both of your sleds. WTF

He walked away shaking his head and that fact alone has sold him on his next sled. The look on his face was as they say was PRICELESS

Why is it everytime we go riding it never fails the one of the 2 smokes are always worring about fuel ? Is it me or do you guys on here feel the same way ?

This is why we ride 4 strokes !

Ride with any 2 smoke and you never have to worry about fuel, they need it long before you ?

I have a viper that took one less gallon than my buds Apex GT last week. He also rides in the back of the pack...for a reason. Not sure if this is the norm. He brought it to my attention.

had a trip last week end, they were all yammis but still fun to compare gas mileage, not sure how many miles we rode, about 100 or so,we all left with a full tank of gas,the rs venture took $22,warrior took $23,yep,only $1 more,my wife's phazer took $19,i do ride with a guy with a venture 600 2 smoke, yikes, that thing sucks fuel,he would of took $40

These are a list of minor things you can do to improve fuel economy :

Back set of idler wheels were removed and replaced with a slighly larger wheel than stock. This helps with wear and helps make her roll.

Yamaha wheel kit added to front of rails at curve just behind rubber suspension stops. Helps wear problem and helps her roll.

Slp wear pads added on all rubber windows that did not have a stud already there. Helps her roll

Rip saw track studded in a four two pattern with studs in outside bands every other one . Balance, Balance , Balance equal pressure.

Track is balance with studs placed to get as many scatch lines as possible, but also balanced with placement and no stud is placed any closer to an edge than 7/8 of an inch in any direction.

Yes you can stud the outside bands using 1.450 Megabits, Round aluminum plates, and extra tall aluminum locking nuts.

GT rear shock is set at minimum but spring has plenty of pre-load
and dont really notice it having problem with bottoming out.

I weigh 240 lbs. plus clothing with a mid height windshield.

Stock Plugs, Stock clutching, stock air box, stock gearing she runs at 10,800 RPM radars at 112 and the dream meter has read 121.

Ice road with a dusting of snow, not real fast but good for stock sled. It is what is ! And these are actual figures.

Sled has 2000 miles on her and it seems like the engine braking is getting
less of a factor which in my opinion kills gas economy.

Front springs run soft and normal shock settings.
Stock ski's with 8" dooleys. Hyfax wore in but not
ready for replacement.

I like the way she rolls now and I like the fuel economy. Take friction
out of the equation and your 150 horses may not be so thirsty. LOL!

;)! ;)! ;)!

i run fitch fuel catalyst in my apex gt. track loosened,ultimax 3 belt,on average i get 15 to 16.5 mpg.pretty good for 150hp!! :4STroke: :-o

I always take less gas than my buddies two strokes.

Nice change from my last sled which was a Viper with triple pipes that was always out of gas in 90 miles or less if running hard.
