So, I put my 20/40 gears in my Vector and now my kid has it in the hills and says the thing is frikkin nuts and the boost is hitting 20lbs??? He has lengthened the wastegate rod to the max, backed out the gated boost tee and can't get it below 17lbs when he mashes it. It was running 12lbs before and i could adjust it up or down with the tee. Any ideas?? He says it is absolutely insane to ride. The only thing I have changed from last time is the gearing, I had it pulling 22/40 gears (8T drivers) and it was Ok at 2000' but in the Mtns it wouldn't pull the revs on a hard climb(8300rpm) I figured my clutches were loaded too heavy with the gearing (they were getting pretty hot) so I geared it down and let my son take it to the mtns to try. Now he calls me up and tells me this. he doesn't have tools to change gearing so will have to make do. I told him to loosen off the secondary a little and see if it helps. It has a 45 deg helix in it as well. Anyone???

Lots of possibilities there ,leak in the wastegate actuator line ?Wastegate stuck shut ?

that's all i could think of. He seemed to think it was because i had it geared lower, but it shouldn't matter, he should still be able to lenthen the rod enough(he adjusted it to max length) I told him to check the lines. Will just have to wait till he gets it home so I can have a look.
Thanks for your feedback.

slymax: I've been having this problem. I disconnected the T that goes to the 2 stage switch, and put on a second boost guage. Hope to get out today and compare the 2 boost guages.

Already changed the actuator, readjusted the wastegate, changed the transducer to the dual boost EGT guage.

What type of guage are you using? I know Bender was having trouble with a dual guage like I have, and when I called BullyDog they told me they would send a new guage.

We have little snow all year and when I would work on something I would have to wait 2 weeks to try the fix. Right now I have bypassed the dual stage T with a straight hose between the actuator and turbo.

Mine isn't a guage problem, it is definitely too much boost. my son has ridden the sled with 12lbs and assures me it is nuts with 17-20lbs. i don't have it here right now as he is in the Mtns with it. He is going to check the hoses from the turbo to the actuator this morning and if not the problem will just stay out of the throttle today. He is 6hrs away from here. I have the same problem, in that I try something and then have to wait to get to the snow to try it. I have an autometer boost/vac mechanical guage.

Mine was a guage problem. Got it confirmed today. Put a Nordskog digital guage with memory on it today, along with the dual EGT/Boost guage and the old guage was showing 12lbs @ peak and running @ 9lbs boost. New guage shows 8lbs peak and runs @ 6 lbs. this is with the 2 stage switch disconnected. How I have to reconnect the boost switch and work on the jets. Just about out of snow though!

He couldn't find any problems with hoses etc so just rode it and stayed out of the throttle too much. He said it seemed to lose power and then there was no boost this afternoon. He dialed it back up to about 10lbs and seems to be working???????? Can't have been the wastegate stuck because when he had the rod off he said it moved freely. Who knows, pinched line...stuck adjuster. Will give it the once over when it gets home and shorten the rod back up a little. Will probably be 2 weeks before I can get back to the snow with it to try it out.

too much boost

Had a similar prob

turned out the boost tee line would get hot and kink, so the turbo would continue to spool.
its not all bad but ya need good fuel to match or youll detonate quick.
try routing arond boost tee and see if it says the same.

theres no such thing as too much boost.
went to revy for big iron, and pulled 27lbs with straight C12 on my MCX KKK rear. 350+ hp is freakin insane in these snow conditions. doing 120mph in like 100 feet.

on a tell tale or peak memory, keep in mind, the boost will spike up the second you let off the gas.... maybe 1 or 2 lbs on high boost.... ok so what is high boost.... 5or more higher than low boost..

Sounds like it may have been a stuck boost tee? I have it mounted at the rear and haven't had a problem with it myself but I guess they had wet slushy conditions, might have to relocate the adjustable tee?
