Just wondering what some of you go buy when you tighten your track on your XTX. I've gone through the manual and I've read the section on track tension but was just wondering if any of you actually hang a certain poundage weight from the track or do you just go by look and feel? If for example I was to lift the back end of the sled off of the floor how much space should I have between the hifax and the track on the bottom without any weight on there? Is this not a good idea? I've never hung any kind of weight from my tracks in the past but this is my first Yammi so just wondering if this was common practice. I've got about 350km on there now and have never had the track ratchet on me but have heard that the track should be fairly tight on a Nytro. Any input would be appreciated, and I'm not looking for super technical wanna be answers about how the sun should align with this and that when you do it or that the temperature should be so and so or else the earth will fall of its axis!! Just some good common sense knowledge from folks that know what they're doing! Thx in advance!

If you have a little fish scale thingy, just check the track tension once with that and compare it with the sag that you have. Hows that for not too techy?lol

or you can actually buy a track tension tool. The are fairly cheap & easy to use!

Definitely not too over the top!! (ROFL) Thx!
So if not with a scale, anybody do it just by look and feel?

Yes. I've never used a scale, a weight, or a tool to adjust track tension on any sled. My XTX has about 3/4" track sag at the lowest point with the rear lifted off the ground and no weight. I just reinstalled the skid a couple of days ago so its fresh in my memory. I'm careful to center the track but I prefer it to be loose, just shy of ratcheting.

I have an inch of track deflection when I press down in the center of the track with the sled off the ground.

Right on, thx!! This is exactly where I set mine yesterday before our 120 mile ride and it felt absolutely fine!! Thx for all of your replies!

Just run it loose enough to not ratchet and you'll be fine. The tighter the track, the more hyfax wear you'll have.

That's good to hear! Was so many posts about guys saying the track on the Nytro had to be tighter than most!! First Nytro and Yammi for that matter so just wanted to be sure!! These are the common sense reports I was hoping for!

If you ride it and hear it ratchet, tighten each adjuster one turn until it stops. Mine will ratchet a little bit when at full throttle trying to get out of some deep stuff, but other than that, it wont, and my track has a lot of deflection. I run a Cobra though..

Like it tight? Stick your sled on a lift and run it up. Let go of the throttle and watch the track come to a stop. Now loosen the track and repeat the exercise. Watch and listen to the difference. I'll bet you leave your track looser after that.
