Trailer Slides

I just bought a 12 foot V nose MPT to store my snowmobile. I am trying to figure out what I need to do to make it last as long as possible. I want to paint or seal the deck. Any opinions??? I would also like to buy some slides for both ramps and the deck of the trailer so my track will not destroy it. If anyone has configured their own trailer, any responses would be appreciated.

Hey! Just got a 12 footer myself. I put two coats of sealer/primer on the floor as a base, then I topped it off with a grayish blue deck sealer with a bag of Behr sand particles mixed in to give a rough finish. I also painted the walls white and then put a bead of white caulking on all the cracks to seal it up. As far as slides and traction, I haven't decided yet what to do but I'm leaning towards the kit from royal distributing. You could also tile your floor with some 3/16 rubber mats.

what kind of sealer/primer did you use?

If you can find an old truck bed liner at a junkyard you can cut it into 8 foot strips and use it for the slides- works great. Just slot the screw holes to allow for expansion in the summer.

It's CIL premium exterior sealer primer. And the final base was also CIL exterior garage porch and floor paint. The color is mist grey. I had enough with a gallon of each to do two coats of each. I got it at the home depot.

Tractor supply for a stall mat. 4 x 6 cut it down the middle for a track mat, and the bed liner works awesome. Two trailers now and never a problem!

axapowell- how do you prevent the carbides from hooking up when loading the sled?

Axapowell if you dont know this already just a friendly reminder those nice new sliders get extermely slippery when they get wet. I have landed on my azz at least once a year loading and unloading my sled.
It seems to remind me not to step on them when geting on or off the sled on the trailer after riding or if it is snowing on the way to the mountains at the start of the season. They are fine when they are dry. being a convered trailer will help for sure. I have an open trailer

The skis / carbides don't catch at all.

And yes, the runners are pretty slippery when wet, but the stall mats aren't so bad.

This is the second trailer I've done this way.
