I had major ice build-up issues last season with my Mountain Lite. The fact is, the colder it is outside while you ride, the larger a mess is made with any kind of heat transfer, for example, from the exhaust.
I've been staring at every picture of the MTX that I could find but for those who have seen it in person, is the tunnel completely blocked off on top from snow spray from the track?
An open tunnel, even with side protectors offered now on the Mountain Lite/Phazer MTX, creates a huge mess.
Even when I covered the tunnel hole, you still get all of that heat off the exhaust pipe, on top of your tunnel, which collects snow and ice and a lot of weight.
I want to know if the exhaust and the heat from it are completely sealed from being exposed on the TOP of the tunnel.
I know there's an open hole underneath the muffler to cool it down inside the tunnel. (which will create its own problems in very cold weather)
On another note, I'm glad a hitch is offered for this unit. I'm not impressed with the size of the fuel tank though.
Thanks for any help!

hi yellow,i really enjoyed reading your posts for the season on your phazer, ice was also a concern for me as i ride in cold temps as well except yours are a bit colder..lol..i do the same type of riding as yourself, even on my summit at-30c riding powder the chassis picked up alot of ice,get back from a 200 mile ride at -30 and i was amazed when id pull it in the garage at how much ice was on the sled stuck up in the tunnel ,on the running boards, and stuck to the suspension, going to a 4 stroke did worry me a bit about the ice after reading your log on the phazer, due to the pipe in the tunnel..i think that is something that will prob never go away when riding in cold temps unless we had a carbon fibre tunnel,i did order the zx2 suspension as it is a composite and snow/ice will not stick to it,i imagine this will help a fair amount, but there will still be some ice sticking to the tunnel at cold temps,im surprised someone hasnt made a carbon fiber heat shield to attach to the pipe in the tunnel to minimize heat transfer, unless the pipe actually needs the snow to take some heat away.
