Turbos are a blast! Turbos have been around forever and the key seems to be fuel and ignition management.
Why the heck are the kits so expensive for these snowmobiles?
Turbos are cheap.
Has anyone built ther own turbo projects out here?
You'll save some serious coin...

I hear ya
I have buit many kits for street apps.
Many of these companys have spent thousands of man hours developing there kits to perform to there fullest.
I think many people including my self are not willing or have the time to put many hours in to fine tunning and building jigs to make parts.
your right turbos are fairly cheap, and intercoolers, BOV, some tubing and clips. but nobody works for free and there still needs to be some profit in there too
The 3k rear mount kit from MCX was $6500.00 can
All parts I would guess it at 2000 from internet.
and i'll say 75 hours labour welding, fitting, measuring.
last time I checked I was $45/hour - 75 x 45 = 3375.00
+ 2000.00
-------------
= 5375.00
Tax + 752.50
---------------------
Total = 6127.50 canadian
so for an extra $370 bucks I just paid for it.
But if ya had limited money to do that I would say go for it.
go measure the parts from a friend and build away.
I have thats why i have built twin turbo kits for SB cheys from bone yards.
but would my kit beat gale banks in the quarter mile.? dont think so with out hours and lots of money for trial and error.
happy building

Got my MCXpress kit last friday, opened box, read manual. Installed everything over the weekend, put the finishing touches to it on Mon night and turned the key. Everything fit like a tight glove. I consider myself to be someone who can "build anything" with time and money. I don't care to spend hundreds of hours to make it all fit and work from scratch, my time is worth money too. Mistakes can get really expensive, there is a guy in town that has a turbo project that has been going on for a couple of years(from scratch) I keep hearing about the blow ups etc. I think he has another engine now and is starting again. :ORC
