Anyone have an opinion ?
Think they are both liked. I'm running a stage II Schmidt Bros kit and I'm really liking it!

Did it increase your top end, or your power off a start?

I second that. I have the Schmidt bros comfort clutch system on my primary and their stage II secondary helix and love it. More get up and go and top speed with factory GT gearing.
Reasonably priced too at $259.00 for the comfort + $65 for the helix.
Chris, the owner is very helpful and helped to provide realistic goals once the parts were installed.

I have also heard good things about both. The difference for me is that the Ulmer kit is half the price of the SBM kit. Gonna order mine tomorrow.

I have the Ulmer and really there is not much to it. You could probably weight up your factory clutch arms and be just as well off. Just hitting that 11,250 properly makes a big difference.
However there might be a little less engine braking with the Ulmer kit vs stock.

Simple yet effective, and inexpensive. Nothing wrong with that.

I've got Ulmer's. I like it. The curve is more aggressive but still smooth.

I am running a bigger paddle 151" track on my Phazer so It's hard to make an exact before/after report... But it grips a lot harder and pulls real nice. Also a lot les backshift, you can let go of the throttle without falling forward!
I had never changed weights in my primary before so I did what the instructions said and carfully drilled the rivets, got a god tip after I finnished to use a vise and a socket and a small hex screw to just push out the pins instead of drilling... Would have med the hole process less worrysome since you really dont want to take ANY material out of the arms...

I'm running a 1.5" free ride and just installed the Schmidt bros. stage 2 clutch kit an love it. Very easy to install. And Chris was over the top helpful. He even helped me with the air box mod that he didn't even sell me. Big props for that. Taking that little bit extra time with a customer goes along way.
The kit does slow down the aggressive back shifting, which is hard to get used to when ur goin down a road fast an then let up on the throttle and the sled starts fish tailing. Pulls harder now and is more responsive feeling. I've only owned the phaser for about a month. It was stock except for the mbr pipe. Hope this helps ya make a decision.

I bought Ulmers kit over the summer and installed it for the first part of this season. In the last week I stretched my sled to 144". I talked with Alan and he told me to send the clutch weights back and he would modifiy them for my new track set up. He only charged me for three rivets and shipping and turn them around the same day. Awesome service! The sled really rocks now. It pulls really hard up to 70 mph now I couldnt be happier with the set up. G.B.
