USI skis...any feedback ?

I've been testing USI skis and suspension setups on the 05 mach Z. I believe the Spx or Vx should be excellent center keel skis for the RX 1 and Warrior application. I will be testing these skis on my new 05 warrior early next week amd will give a full report to this site. This is a great ski design and works well in most applications. I've found the the type and size wearbar needs to be carefully matched to the intended appicatiion for best performance. studdog

I tryed a set of USI tunnel blades on my Warrior when I first gopt it last year. They were too aggresive for the sled and did not have enough floatation. ;)!

I have the yamaha GYT USI skis on 2 Vmax sleds and love them. I ebay purchased a set of PX301 for my 05 RX1, but the mounts were wrong and I am selling them (they were doo's with larger diameter bolt). I think they would be great, they are shaped skis with a wide portion that will improve flotation. They are supposed to be easy to turn and gain some top end speed.

Go with the C&A Pro "Outlaws. There is really no comparison between. C&A Rockson and off the Track. Take a look at the X-Games. 3 out of 32 were runnin USI's, the rest were runnin C&A's

Thanks for the replies. I'll let you know what my test results. I do not want super agrressive steering if I have to give up easy steering. Anyone esle tried USI SPXs on the Warrior? studdog.

USI's

I have a set of I beleive are PX-301's on my RX-1. Very few miles but they appear to have good flotation, decent tracking, but very hard to steer. Not sure how long they will stay. Haven't tried to adjust anything yet but most recommend more skii pressure for the RX, can't go there.

First ride with USI SPX skis. Conditions were hardpack rutted trails and some bare ice due to recent thaw and refrreeze. Skis were great, minimal darting/tracking and good control for conditions. I think the width of these skis will be a real plus on the Warrrior. Compared the width to my simmons and the USI are much wider from front of to past the rear of spindle. I'll post further results when we see some more snow. studdog

I've got the loot and already have ridden simmons. Have a Pair in my garage if someone wants to buy them along with two sets of new carbides. I've not been happy with dual runner skis for my type of riding. The doo precisions were junk the simmons are a good ski but still push more than I like. I've also run slp's, another good ski, as well as USI SS a speed ski. I guess I'm a ski freak! Ski's and correct wearbars for your application are probably the most important aftermarket addition To improve your sleds handling. studdog

So you know Simmons has come out with a new design on the wearbars that have changed the pushing aspect of this ski to virtually nothing ........unless you come rippin into a corner. If not let me know what you want for the skis.

they are not on the site. I'll send you some pics as I just got them directly from Val Simmons for testing. They now have 3 hardbar carbide flats in front and a progressive rise to the cutting carbide that not only evens out wear but substantially bite into corners. I just tried them out in Canada and I gotta tell ya that they not only smoked the old design in performance but the improvement on the real hard stuff for darting was all but gone. I was thoroughly impressed. I have been promising Indy some pics for a week. I promise to send them to you tonight. You'll like what you see I guarantee it. The new design allowed me to take out the Bergstrom Skeg shims.
