I have an 08 Vector with 13000 km on it. A buddy of mine says I should get the valve clearance checked ,because he knows 3 guys that ruined their motors because the clearance wasn't right. He said one guy only had just over 10ooo km on his. I've heard this is usually an issue around the 20-30000 km mark. It looks like a big job. I just bought the sled. He says spend the money and get it done. Comments?

Yamaha wants the valves checked and adjusted around 25,000kms.
Maybe your buddy was referring to people with the 07 and older that blew timing chain tensioner which screwed up the valves.

I don't know. He was pretty specific about the valve clearance being the issue. I wonder how many Vector riders have had the valves checked.

I know on the 4 cyl sleds the spec is actually 25000 miles, or 40000 km before valve clearance needs to be checked. I've got 30000+ on my Apex and it still runs fantastic.

I don't know, but you would think after 11 years this would have been mentioned on this forum if that was the case. I have 10k mine now.

This could be a coincidence I guess.

14,000 miles so far.. Book says 24,000 miles... Sounds and feels great.. MM.

I'll bet the guy is referring to the Arctic cat 4 stroke motor. I think they recommend every 5000 miles. I would not waste the time or money !
