I'm looking to purchase a 2up machine shortly. Presently, I'm trying to decide between the new venture lite and the RS venture. I'm leaning towards the lite but have some reservations with it being a first year model plus all of the issues raised here. On the other hand I can get a good deal on the 06 venture but its heavier and more powerful. Anyone give me pros or cons for either machine.
Thanks
Thanks
Compare the dry weights of both sleds. 5% difference? Not huge, and the RS has 120 HP.

Thanks! It seems like a lot of people prefer the Rs over the lite. Plus I can get a better deal on an 06 RS and with its proven track record its probably the way to go.

the 08 looks like it address some problems all model years have been adding. looks like they added extra bogie wheels which should help with the hyfax and the track noise

The real question is why they don't drop the 150 motor in a Venture!!!

The riding position puts the two sleds in completely different categories in my opinion.
The ergos on the Venture Lite are awesome, where the RS is stil a "sit down" sled.
I have about 300 miles of seat time on an 06RS and almost 4000 miles on my Lite, and although I wish mine had the 120 hp motor, there is now way anyone could convince me to give up the comfort and ride-ability of the Lite.
To me, this is a no brainer, but of course if all you ride is groomed trails highway style, this may not be a point.

I know where you're at with this decision Swiler ... I was thinking along the same lines back in November ... couldn't decide which one to go with. I finally picked the Venture Lite mainly because of the ergos and ample rack space. Well, I can agree totally with Gypsy ... just the ride comfort alone would have sold me on this sled. Gas economy is a little less than the RS, but not by much.
A little time in the saddle of the Lite and you'll be sold on it too.
I don't think you'll get a much better ride.

I have pretty much made up my mind to get the venture lite. I to like the rack and ergonomics. The only thing holding me back was the first year problems. However, yourself and gypsyRoots have relieved those fears. Its just a matter of getting the test ride to confirm everything. My test ride has been put on hold as I'm suffering with a cold. It probably won't take place until next week now.
I'll let you know what I think and decide. Appreciate your input.

Too bad on you catching the cold. Hope that don't stop you from sledding this weekend.
Enjoy your test ride, and yes bye, let us know what you think of the sleds.
Cheers.......
