My wife and I are expecting our first child in December after 3 years of trying. :-o We are sooo happy LaLaLa .
Anyways, she got me a Sony video cam for a "Father-to-be-day" gift. Does anyone know of a unit to mount this thing to my new sled?
P.S. it looks like I ordered that sled just in the nick of time! 8)

I don't know of any mounts for video cameras. I don't think you would want your video camera exposed to the elements either. Here is what I am going to do. These Cameras hook into the the AV on your video unit and have all sorts of different mounting hardware. I have heard nothing but good reports on these systems.

I made my own for my full size Panasonic camera, out of aluminum. I made one bracket to bolt onto the back, and two for the front. One on the bumper and one right on the ski spindle.

If you would like give me all of the camera diamensions and where you would like to have it mounted and on what sled. And I'll make you one ;)!

Even made one for my quad, mounts to the front rack! 8) 8) ;)!

I made a helmet mount for my sony trv10, which worked very well, trouble is my wife got mad when I started wearing my helmet to bed. :-o

Any Large Camera Store can supply Mounts easy to use

You Can buy dozens of fairly inexpensive camera mounts at most good camera stores The Mount needs to have at least the ability to tilt.
your camera will have a 1/4 inch thread to hook it to the camera mount plate. the camera mount the plate fits on may have a 3/8 inch or 1/4 inch hole to mount it to your sled or helmet or whatever you want.
The problem with Hard mounting your Camera on your sled is this
the camera will take a lot of vibration regardless where you mount it
It May Also get Hit with LOTS of Snow so make a Rubber Cover or wrap it in Plastic or possiblly buy a cheap water proof housing.
The better thing to do with POV camera mounting is to use a Cheap survelance camera you can buy from alarm companies or the internet
or a spy store and run that camera into your camera which you then use as a record deck this Camera is so light they Vibrate less and are often waterproof you can get a faily good one now for about 100 bucks
They are great for helmets or hard mounting them any where
if you buy one that is 12 volts you can run it from uor sleds 12 volt power
and make a quick connect cable to your camera you would just plug it in and turn it on when you want.
POV shots typical are a little boring and out of 60 mins of footage you may only get 2 min or less of real cool stuff
Clean the Lens Every time you Stop when using it.
I have Wired Cameras on riders for several films and tv shows
and have mounts all over my sled some times.
Remember this Tighten the Mount when using it Often
