Just did a 150+mile ride today....seems like I am always the only Yamaha rider in our group anymore. The sleds I ride with are always 2012 or newer Ski Doos 800 and 1200s. My 2007 Attak consistently out drag races and out runs these Doos on the lakes and is comparable at the pumps. I think the Yamaha Apexs have to be "THE MOST UNDERATED SLEDS" of all times. After listening to that 4 cylinder Apex engine purr all day today, as it has year after year, it makes me reflect on my worry Yamaha will not use the 4 cylinder in their next generation sleds...that's when I will have to switch brands.

Looks like decent snow where you're at. Hope they don't eliminate the 4 cylinder as well. Love my apex.

Well said... I have had mine (apex)for over 8 yrs now ( WOW ... longest i have ever owned a sled) and have no reason what so ever to buy a new sled..... not even interested. The only thing that I have done to mine is put M-10 rear suspension on it. It really was the icing on the cake as it was the only thing I personally wanted to improve on the sled. Its a incredible sled in my opinion and will likely keep for ever. I been riding for over 40 years and have ridden most everything out there and there are good sleds but this sled is awesome! I am just concerned what Yamaha's future is ... with the whole arctic venture and no real "movement " any other place in there line-up it make me wounder??? With all the other things Yamaha makes it really does not have to make a snowmobile with the shrinking market and cost of new sleds these days! One more reason to keep her!

A lot of the two smokers bash the weight of the Apex but if they are only trail riding then the weight is not a factor anyway, boondocking however could be a different story. My Apex rails the trails as well as any 2 stroke. I am surrounded by lakes & itis nice to know I can run this thing as hard as I want, to the pickle for miles & miles if I wish & not only will take it, it wants more!

SSB, our Apex's certainly are great sleds but don't sell yourself short... you did a great job improving upon it as well!

So true...never had the same sled this long...but still puts a smile on every time it's ridden....just need the hygear setup to curb some bottoming...but what an engine!
That engine will still survive , when your buddies R&R there engine on the 2-smoke over and over and over ..
