We were riding in some pretty good snow the other day with some rather challenging riding conditions. I was having a heck of a time hanging on to the bars with my large warm gloves on so I swapped to my mechanics gloves.

Once I had the mechanics gloves on, getting a good grip on the bars was no longer a problem. Then slowly my hands started getting cold because the deep snow was melting on the gloves so I turned up the handwarmers all the way and it helped but the backs of my hands were still cold. I know you're thinking a whinny sniveling SOB right about now but......................

There must be some gloves light enough to allow you to grip the bars effectively and still warm enough for whinny SOBs like me? I'm looking for something lightly insulated, waterproof (not water resistant) and with a very tacky palm surface.

I did a little research and it sounds like the True North Adventure Storm Gloves are a favorite of many. I plan to buy a pair shortly.

The other glove that sounds like what I am looking for is the Klim Inversion gloves. I plan to buy a pair of these too.

These two sound like the best I have found so far.

I plan to do some more research on the Cold Wave Snow Ice gloves, the Katahian Tribute gloves and the RU Outside Sonic and K Dog gloves.

What are your favorite gloves for boondocking and climbing and why?

Thanks

Thinsulate leather work gloves -- tread them with mink oil first after that they are good for life. They shape to your hands after one ride and are the best I ever had for grip.
A friend got me on to them I like them better than the most expensive stuff I tried.
I keep the warm ones for trailing in and out in the back pack but most days I never even use them the all leather glove conducts the heat from the bars well and still keeps the wind from freezing the Knuckles.
The best part is how they form to your hands after a few rides, only leather does that.

i carry two pair of inversions from klim. when powder riding one will last alittle over half the day, then i wear the other home to the trailer. i also carry a pair of ru outside kenai gloves if both lighter gloves get wet to early. these are put on strickly for the ride home. ski

Lee; I see on SW that you bought some Iron Clad Tundras. You'll definately have warm hands with those gloves (unless you have poor blood circulation).

I bought a pair for me and the wife last season and have never had cold hands with them. This is saying alot, considering I have the Fly bars that rob all my handwarmer heat.

Dakine, most comfortable warm but after 1 year at 16 lbs boost the seam started to let go.

Thanks guys!

It seems there are far more good gloves than ever dreamt there could be!

I'll try several of the gloves and give a report.

I had the exact same problem as you. I bought a pair of the KLIM Powercross gloves and they are awsome for keeping your hands warm while playing in the deep. Below -15 deg they tend to get a little cold, but I will just switch back and forth depending if I am playing or trail riding.

Flainx, you are so right!

I just bought a pair of Klim Powercross gloves last week and they are completely awesome!

I dug out guys all day and my hands never got wet and stayed warm for 98% of the time. I couldn't more highly recommend a glove!

Ask for a 10% discount when you buy them, they are $75 retail but worth every penny.
