I'm thinking of putting this ski on a 2008 Vector LTX.
I'm not sure if I would need the stopper 1&2 as used in the Professional
Other then that I would need a new bolt, flange. I assume the ski loop
and runner would be transferable even though the parts list shows a
different part number.
Has anyone gone this route or is knowledgeable for this set up?

As you might know, my Vector LTX GT came with these ski's as standard. If I remeber correct, they are 7" wide. I don't think you will need new rubber's to mount them. You do however need the longer bolts, and the two thick shims on each side of the spindle when mounted. You can also change the stance by putting both shims on the same side...
EDIT: After looking through the parts-list it shows different numbers on the two stoppers and the runners, so it seems you need those too...

I've got these skis on my Vector and put them on for my last ride of the season last spring. They worked great in the rotten spring snow and I noticed the sled cornered flatter and the outside ski didn't sink as much in the snow. I just rode my Vector this morning for the first time this year and immediately noticed how well the skis kept the front end up in the powder. If you ride powder and off trail, I think the Vector needs 7" wide skis. Otherwise you fight the sled. 6" wide skis aren't wide enough and the stock 5" wide skis are a joke. They are only good for groomed or packed trails.
Why not use the newer mountain skis? I love em' on my Rage.

The nose is wider on the VK Professional. Similar to a snow board.

I thought if Yamaha was putting the VK Professional skis on the 2008 Vector LTX in some parts of the world that made me look at that option.
I also thought about the MTX ski as well as after market ski.
I thought I would stick with Yamaha as I have some Yamaha bucks to use up. Its a tough call, thats why I thought I would ask.
Does anyone know if the ski loop or as Yamaha calls it a Reinforcement Head fit to their different ski's?

I used the loops off my stock 5" wide skis and bolted them right on the VK skis. One thing I discovered is the VK skis use skags with longer studs. My stock skags worked but the nuts didn't thread as far down on the stud as they did with the 5" wide skis.

One more question : Were you able to use the stopper from the original ski
or did you have to order the stopper 1&2 as used in the VK professional?
Thanks

I used my stock rubber bumpers. Only things I bought were the VK ski bottoms and the varoius spacers since VK skis were wider. I think I also got longer ski bolts & new nuts.

I ordered the Euro version ski 8FM-F3711-00 The Vk Professional is 8FN-F3711-00. I do not know what the difference is but that is the ski
I'm told is used on the 2008 Vector LTX In Europe.
Also had to order different bolt and collars along with bottom stopper 2
I guess I will find out if this is all correct and hope it works as expected.
I also ordered Bergstrom runners, ski saver and shims.

I didn't have any specifics because I bought the skis used from my dealer and he just included all the necessary bolts and spacers. I'm almost thinking about going with some 7" wide skis on my Nytro since the 6" don't keep the front end up quite as well as I'd like. I'm thinking of taking the set off my Vector and trying them on the Nytro. They were cheaper than aftermarket 7" wide skis.
Do you think the wider nose tip is worth gving up the direction control in ungroomed snow afforded by the newer curved side keel design of the Yami mountain ski?

I do a lot of lake riding sometimes in very soft conditions, so I was more
concerned about getting the front end up and planning.
Not too concerned about sharp turning on the lake. I wouldn't expect too
much of a problem on a groomed trail I hope.
Yes I thought about the mountain ski . I hope I made the right decision.
I guess a lot would depend on what your intended use was and the terrain
it was used in.

I've not ridden the mountain ski so I can't compare. The VK skis are noticeable in how much better they float than my 6" wide C&A copies. I'm thinking the VK's will have less of a tendency to knife because of the wide nose but that is speculation on my part. Once I get more snow they are definitely going on my Nytro because my 6" wide skis aren't enough to keep the front end from knifing into wet powder.
