I'm considering installing a hitch on my Apex . I just can't haul enough gear on my back and the rear tunnel is useless for storage. My new backpac destroyed my seat and my back last weekend so I gotta do something. I'm looking at hauling gas cans ,food, BEER lol, etc so saddle bags won't work for me . Just weekend supplies for the cabin for the most part with maybe a few trips with propane tanks ,, NO Wood . Is anyone using the XTX as a tow rig and how is it working out ? I have a 6ft sled that I've used for yrs with my Renegade without issue ,, should I look at one of those lightweight plastic sleds for the Apex or can it handle some weight behind it ? Will I burn belts , overheat , rip the rear tunnel apart or bend it down on the first big bump ?
The hitch kit replaces the rear bar and comes with a support plate ,, it looks like a strong design but it's always best to ask first :)

Thanks !

I have the Yamaha hitch on both my 06 and 07 Attacks. We have to sled seven miles into our camp each weekend. We haul gas clothes food fuel 100 pound propane tanks with no problems.

If your stock bumper is the same as an 07 Apex, why not just put a simple hitch on. I figure if I can lift my back end off the ground by that bumper, I can certainly pull my 8 foot fiberglass sleigh around with all kinds of gear in it. Four years later and no problems. And if you were ever to bend it, who cares, you were going to replace it in the first place.

Get the yamaha hitch.very solid.no problems.have tried with four people on an old homemade ironsled.........geared mine down from 23t to 21t

I'm with Gitrdun. I've had a hitch like that on my nytro for 3 seasons and no issues. I use it to pull a 6' plastic sleigh - often times in excess of 80mph ;), and my ice hut that's made of wood (5x8') and it's been fine. Figured for the 20 bucks I'd try it out. The Yamaha one may be nice, but it's pretty expensive when the other options seem to work. The only thing I changed was the pin with a bolt and locknut.

Thanks guys ,,that's good news ! I like how simple that hitch looks but i'm not sure I would trust it on our rough trails. It's all uphill and rough trail to the cabin so I think I will go with the heavy Yamaha option.

ps... I can't believe they want 500 bucks for a seat cover . I should have priced the foam just for kicks :o|
