Guys, Have any of you used a windshield bag for your RX-1/Warrior?? I bought a windshield bag for my warrior the other day looking to maximize my storage and was suprised at the mounting and how it fit. It didnt fit as snug as I thought it would and the velcro mounting doesnt seem very precise. What is your take? Any tips on mounting the large strap?

Used one for 2 seasons (since new) on my Warrior. No problems whatsoever.... When I mounted it I attached the velcro (that mounts to the inside of the windshield) onto the wind. bag and removed the backing...Then carefully positioned the entire unit inside the windshield the way I wanted it, pressed firmly from the inside of the opened bag with my hand and VOILA! The stick-backed mounting velcro is EXACTLY where it needs to be, no guessing or measuring.

Other than that, make sure the surface is good and clean....It should have come with an alcohol swab for this purpose. Hope this helps! ;)!

ok, so let me see... the strap piece near the windsheild is supposed to mount to the inside of the windshield and not the black plastic? And the other strips go to the inside edges of the windsheild? If I understand you correctly all vecro should be to the windshield.... I just doesnt seem to fit right.... seems like it will interfere with the view of the pod.

Do yourself a favour. Take your windshield off and take the strap at the bottom of the "V" and screw it into the plastic just above the headlights. That way you don't have to worry about losing it if you lost the velcro.

I keep a wool hat, digital camera, map and cigars/lighter and small bottle of water in the windshield bag. Works great!

I cringe at the thought of drilling, but if it is below the w/s trim and out of sight you are probably right. Did you not attach the side velcros as well? you mention digital camera in there.... do you get any heat from the engine to help keep the batteries fresh?

I've had the triangular shaped windshield bag on my RX for 3 years the small pieces of velcro will hold it in place just fine. Not sure what this strap is that your referring too you must have a different model than the one i have which has no strap. Being behind the windshield they dont move very much all the velcro really does is keep it from bouncing out of place.

thanks for all the input boys.... I will work it over a bit and maybe fill the bag to see what it's real shape will be.

Yeah it's wayyyy below the trim around the headlights. You'd never see it. The velcro was attached very well. The thing is, I didn't like leaving the bag on overnight at the hotels so I used to remove it before heading in. One night in -30C I went to remove the bag and both velcros came off....I stuck them back on but they never took. My mistake leaving the bag in there for the trip. I thought it would stay.....and well.....they didn't and I lost the whole bag with my hat, camera and everything. Lucky for me a hotel receipt was in there with all my contact information and an older couple found it and mailed it back to me....

This year as an added precaution I put a small metal screw in the bottom flap and new velcro on the windshield.

No problems with the digital cam. Just get yourself a good set of rechargeable batteries rated no less than 2300 mAh and the batts will last you all day in our CDN winters without a problem. I used them on my GPS mounted to my sled as well. Easily last the whole day. Those rechargeable batteries are the answer....!

Do some searching here before you stick the velcro down. Several of us (myself included) initially installed ours upside down.

Once it's installed correctly they work very well. I put 12,000 miles on mine and it worked flawlessly the entire time.

As ReX said, make sure you're installing it correctly.
I have seen many of these installed upside down - even at dealerships.
They sure fit a lot better right side up.

good question.... I flipped mine the other direction from the way I was trying and it seems to fit way better. no more interference with the pod. I dont know if I will attach with a screw or not yet.

Easy way to say this.....the zipper should run along the top of the bag (along the windshield).

If it was upside down then when you opened the bag the zipper would run behind the POD half way through not to mention all your stuff would fall out.

:dunno:
