I'm thinking hard about ordering up the linkage kit from Star Suspensions. I'm just wondering if it changes the track approach angle and if it does is it for the better or worse? I currently run my straps pulled up one link. I find running them at that setting really helps with the trenching issues the XTX has. The only problem with that setup is that it puts a lot more pressure on the skis, and I'm running a set of Curves with 6" carbides and the 4" leading edge . So slow speeds take a bit of manhandling.
There is a lot of talk about the kit making the rear a lot more plush, but not much mention about the off trail manners with the kit. I'm trying to get the machine as off trail friendly as possible without sacrificing too much of its trail capabilities. Thanks in advance.

No change for the XTX...I run mine with 1 hole pulled too (pretty sure Star recommends this setup). Night and day difference between a Nytro with the kit and one without (I have a buddy without) and we've swapped back and forth and we both feel the Star is better.

By "better", do you mean better off trail. Or better on trail? Like I said there is a lot of positive input about the mod, just no mention of how it handles off of trail.

I ran mine off trail a lot last year and absolutely loved it. I was bottoming out more in certain situations (mostly g outs) but I realized that the front linkage loosened and cracked the reservoir fitting on my axis shock, so I am going to blame that for now and see how it goes this year with the linkage arm clearanced. I did skinz a-arms at the same time, and I can tell for certain that the sled was 100% better off trail in the powder, how much was either mod is hard to say though.

Good to hear;
I am running Mountaintech 40"+2" A-Arms and they are awesome!! I'm just hoping to get the rear end to be the best it can be (without breaking the bank).

Better as in the suspension works significantly better: It essentially changes the rear suspension to that of a more traditional snowmobile freeing up the friction points, improving weight transfer and allowing the shocks to do their thing. Approach angle doesn't change so your off trail capability isn't better or worse. I do very little off trail riding; probably 99.9+% trail.

I just installed the linkage kit this week along with a 4th wheel. Keeping fingers crossed that it was worth the time and $

I have both the star linkage kit and MontainTech's 43"x2" A-Arms and they are both the best 2 mods you can do to a XTX Nytro.
