There is an excellent article about the SRX in the fall issue of Onsnow Magazine. In addition, there is a great interview with Jaret Smith, Yamaha Snowmobile Product Planner. Kudos to OSM for asking questions we have been dealing with on this forum, including the skis. Here’s a sample response on the clutching question. Not buying his initial premise as it is a cop out (everyone on this forum knows how to break in a belt and ride a turbocharged self) but note the response.

LOL.....like we all are new to sledding and belts are blowing from mis-use..LOL

I would have much happier if YAM came out with another belt, instead of a lighter spring and helix many have already tried.

I think this will be solved by aftermarket, Like Dave who knows YAM better then any0ne. Or just us here.

My attitude as well. My friend's 240 hp viper turbo doesn't blow belts. Hmmmm.

I echo Dan...I mean come on, all of us who bought this machine weren’t beginners at All!! Yes, this isn’t a beginners sled one bit....but please YAMAHA, tell us something we don’t know for gods sake! Everybody who bought this type of caliber/performance snowmobile...know everything YAMAHA said in that response...and I’m sure follow most all of that.

Put a belt on it that was made for a 205-210 HP Stock sled Yamaha...start there and I bet some of the issues go away...then make sure the offset is right across the board and the rest of the belt issues would go as well.

LOL, what a joke. Buy a 20k sled, the highest performance snowmobile ever made, but you cant pin it and you cant brake hard. Makes alot of sense. Yamaha should just admit they screwed something up and fix the issue. This sled was the first brand new power sports item I have ever bought, and hearing nonsense like this really turns me off from buying new again. Good job Yamaha!

isn't that why you buy a sled with warranty to have a company fix issues that you are having? what a joke you can give us even more money to pay for a issue that we know is a problem..how about step up to the plate and look after your customers!

Lol!!! Who is he trying to fool!!!
My turbo viper never blew a belt and I had the same belt for 3000km and sold it with the the same belt on machine (it was still in perfect condition)
I was not easy on it what so ever!
Throttle was hammered a thousand times, brake were locked up numerous did a full weekend of drag racing...... Oh and I never did a proper break in either..lol
What about the cats why are they having little to no issues I would love to here his reasoning for this!!

Exactly!!

Tell this guy from YAMAHA to come on here, and address the issues first hand! And not give that nonsense as an answer. What a cop out.
