It just does not make sense to even offer the Fox. In the past fox has been known for needing to be rebuilt often. I have Ohlins with 10,000+ miles that still perform pretty well. (could use a rebuild though) I suppose it just to stay on top of things and up to par with the other brands.

"Yamaha owns Ohlins..?" I didn't know that.

The first generation '93-'99 Fox shocks required seasonal rebuilds, the newer ones 2000+ are a little better. Hard to say with the air shocks.

If I had to guess, I would say wieght savings, more adjustability and a proven product. I really think with this new line -up, Yamaha is going after the younger crowd. They kept enough stuff to please the older crowd also. Market Share!!!! They are going after the #1 spot. I truly believe they will get it in the next two years.

Yamaha bought out some shock company, shoesi??? or something like that, and that is the now GYT-R shock on the Apex GT.

Yamaha found some flaws in the FOX Float shocks and worked with FOX to perfect them. They are not the same shocks that you will find on a Cat.

They probably chose FOX for lower price... :( Fox is not nearly as good
as OHLINS plus they own OHLINS :? annother controvertial decision :drink:

Floats and Ohlins are about the same price or the Floats may be a little more. Theoretically a better shock for the application. Have you ever ridden Floats, seems they were good enough to be in the accessories catalogue last year. Some guys geeesh.
