May not be as noticeable on the Apex/Attak chassis as the rider is more forward-seated and less wind protection than on an RX-1??

If you ride aggressively change them every year. As I said in another post it's about $600.00+ if you damage both Y-Pipes and fix it yourself. $45.00 to change the donuts yourself. You decide. If your riding in Canada on highway like trails maybe you can go longer. I only rode 100 miles on freshly groomed trails (had to get back to trailer) after I heard the leak, I can tell you it wasn't that obvious either, only at idle could you really tell. I did notice other symptoms while on that 100 mile trek. Idle seemed to fluctuate strangely; not sure if this is only due to the donut failure as I'm waiting for the Y-Pipe to replace and test. I did start to notice a little exhaust smell but wasn't sure as I was following a 4-stroke Phazer so I didn't know it was mine or the Phazer. Also of the four donuts the one in the location that wore through the Y-Pipe was intact, two of the other donuts were half gone. I don't think it's a matter of it disintegrating or not, but more of it wearing or losing its structure. Once the donut starts to breakdown it becomes softer and allows the header pipe to flex into the Y-Pipe. Also it sounds like they won't even consider covering the Y-Pipe unless I bring the sled to the dealer and have them do all the work. While I understand I’m not happy about it. So I would have to reassemble the sled bring it in, have them disassemble it, hope it's covered as it's at least 3 hours to do the work, (3 X $75.00 - $100.00 plus parts) have them reassemble the sled only to bring it home and disassemble it to check all of their work. And all the while I may have to pay for it all at $600.00 to $900.00 depending on if it's 1 or both Y-Pipes. Don't tell me that I should go to a better dealer to have it worked on as the only one I would trust is 2 hours away which would cost me just as much time and money to bring it to them. And no, when I'm pounding through a corner with trees two feet off the trail or hauling down a rail trail at 100 mph I'm not going to trust the work of some kid that was out late the night before and has never worked on an Apex before. Not saying all sled mechanics are this way I'm just saying you have to assume the worst. Sorry for the rant I just don't want anyone else to have to deal with this extremely frustrating situation.
