Nice report.
I would like to point out on the rough corner to corner handling it took some time getting used to it. Now I can rail-em.
As for the how the rear spring handles a 200 'er. WELLLLL get the big boy spring.
 
YK, Great unbiased review. I've owned all three, your right on! For my kind of riding(long distance trail) I'd definitely pick the Attak by a good margin. I like to see Yamaha fix some of the known problems. Hand warmers,mirrors,low rpm noise,windshields,luggage rack,etc. studdog
 
If you took a Yamaha Guy and Gave him a Doo to ride the review would be similar with the Yamaha being slightly better in the area's that you said the doo was better. Just my opinion
 
Nice job. I agree with dirk. Also, remember Yamaha does not market this as a cross over sled. It is marketed as a rough trail sled. A longer track and different track would make a huge difference off trail, as was pointed out. And of course as anyone who has had one knows, once you get rid of that 2 stroke stink it more than makes up for any of the perceived shortcomings, and you could never go back to a 2 stroke. Tha's my feeling anyway. Never, ever, ever. I love my sled!!!
 
I am almost in 100% total agreement with him. Finally got 200 miles on my Attak, coming from the 800 Blair Morgan REV, and feel like I basically lost or gained nothing, other than the benefits of the 4 stroke. This is exactly what I was hoping for, so it was a win in my book. Look for my review coming soon.
 
Its actually out of character on dootalk for a thread like that to not get out of hand.. TY is TONS more civil with regards to other mfgrs sleds. As an Apex and rev owner I feel the REV is hands down the winner in bumps, the Apex/Attak is plush but the rev is still better overall.. keep in mind yellowknife only weighs 125 lbs!! I also think the REV seat is soggier than the Yamaha but I love the fact that you can move around more on the Yam, the divot in the front of the REV seat almost forces you to sit at the tank. I also have to praise yamaha for putting out a first season sled that really as a whole is trouble free, yes the handwarmers suck, some bogies come apart and hyfax wears but the EFI calibration is very good and in the big picture its been a very good sled with no major failures reported on TY that I can recall seeing andon top of it all the sleds freakin rock.. Im all smiles from start to finish when I ride, but to be fair the REV had the same effect on me and IMO is THE sled that changed snowmobiling forever.. however BRP really needs to a) get their engine program together b) spend more time getting the product right the first time rather than letting the customer be the test pilot , the piston ring problem and the 04 and even some 05 SDI motor calibrations are the perfect example of that.
