Lower drive and reverse gears have side to side movement (float)

Thanks for the reply and tidbits. I have never heard of the shaft still spinning when a shaft saver was installed on a new shaft.

Lower drive and reverse gears have side to side movement (float)

I got a new non current Riot 9000 this past fall after selling my ZR 998 limited. On that sled for the lower drive and reverse gear the retaining clip would just squeeze on and be snug. On my new sled the two gears can actually move side to side a bit and you can easily get the retaining clip...

    Brake fluid reservoir leak

Has anyone had a very small leak from their brake reservoir? This is on my buddy’s 2022 thundercat. I see they updated the part number for the reservoir but not the whole master cylinder assembly as a whole. Not sure what changed. Maybe a better oring. Looked to see it the Yamaha part number had...

    Custom GPS Mounting

I am going with a similar set up this year but bought the Ram ball mount that sticks on by adhesive. Hopefully it’s stays put.

Almost done tearing it down and found a few treats!

I had a broken shift pad on my 2012 but it was caused by the bushing being worn on the upper gear. The bushing should be ok with that low mileage.

    Yep, it's true

This may not be your situation but one thing I want to add is if any of the bolt holes/bolts have oil in/on them from draining the oil (bottom two holes mainly) I have found that there is a hydro lock effect and the bolts stretch/elongate. Bottom two bolts are replaced with new ones when I...

Loose rivets under gas tank by exhaust???

So I was cleaning up the sled for summer storage and noticed that is appears the rivets under the gas tank by the exhaust are loose and possibly rubbing through the tunnel. I think these rivets would be for the heat exchanger. There is one on each side and they both look the same. Has anyone...

    Can’t get jackshaft bearing out!

I guess I guy could put a dial indicator on it and check runout.

    Can’t get jackshaft bearing out!

They all line up. I just noticed the jackshaft/bracket has a bit of movement, adjustment, play, whatever you want to call it, with the holes being slightly bigger than the bolts (Like most fasteners). Maybe a millimetre or two. I was wondering if the bracke/jackshaft not being in the exact spot...

    Can’t get jackshaft bearing out!

They are just regular deep groove ball bearings. Wouldn’t a self aligning bearing be more like a wobble bearing?

    Can’t get jackshaft bearing out!

Thanks everyone for the replies. I ended up taking the bracket right off. My question now is during installation of the bracket/jackshaft you have a little wiggle room in the bolt holes so in theory could the jackshaft alignment be a little off now from where it was due to bracket being slightly...

Would a plumbing propane torch work? Thanks

    Can’t get jackshaft bearing out!

I looked at that. Does the belt guard need to be removed too because it is riveted partially?
