2010 vector LTX despite being very careful hit switching tracks in RR switch yard around 20MPH. both steering knuckles bent, both ski columns bent, couple bent bolts, cracked bushings and the skis are toast. season has been almost nonexistent to begin with. was hoping to maybe get parts this...
change the filter when you change the oil. i personally change these more frequently than recommended all oil gets dirty i don't care how high quality it is. i use mobil one 0-40 european blend and walmart st-6607 filter (manufactured by champion laboratories). always change the oil after the...
personally i always change filters when changing oil. you can get a quality filter (manufactured by champion) from walmart (yes i hate supporting them) for $3. iirc the number is ST6607
basically that's very true but having said that imho these days recommended intervals tend to be stretched a little. i change the oil / filter every season regardless of mileage and do it before i store an engine for the off season. yes it's overkill but oil's cheaper than an engine. i don't...
on my brothers 06 we just did what grizztracks mentioned. we opened up the hole a little and put a grommet in it. if you do this be careful not to get carried away with the hole size there's a chance you can get into the oil. sled has about 3600 miles so far and no cracks. you also don't want to...
can't confirm that you don't have to pull the engine for the stator but definitely not for the tensioner. i glanced at my brothers 06 and i think you might be able to sneak that cover off for the stator if you were creative. years of working as a flat rate mechanic can make you pretty crafty...
i'd really like to give these a shot but i'm kinda skeptical if i can get them installed in a decent fashion. i have so much crap hanging off the bars now there might not be room to strap them on so they fit properly. i have the handlebar bag, factory mirror kit, on the left mirror bracket i...
hmmm...check that a little surfing shows that they are meant to be used stand alone it's just that they will fit over guards. looks like something i might have to spend more money on. now the question is should i get the pros or the trail version. i'd like the most warmth i can get but am kinda...
wonder if it would be possible / practical (probably not) to use those heat loc guards by themselves without the hand guards. i was looking at my sled tonight and think the hand guards would be hard to do a nice job installing plus it looks like they would hit the windshield. between the handle...
Fran (grizztracks) has done a very comprehensive explanation of the cam chain tensioner complete with pictures and steps of the procedure. it's a sticky at the top of this forum. i've never changed a stator on a sled but it's located under the right side cover of the engine. off the top of my...
i don't know why they would pull the engine to replace the tensioner, it's not necessary. shame you don't live close to jersey i'd knock that work out cheaper than a dealer. not to ruffle any feathers but $800 for that job is imho very pricey. if they're into it for the tensioner exhaust...
i have the handle bar mounted mirrors and honestly they work better than i thought they would. they also made a nice place to mount my temperature gauge and garmin. they're a little spendy but i'm happy with them. can't say i ever heard anything good about the ones that mount to the hood / cowl.
just read about these today on a site i didn't even know existed. wasn't aware they weren't in circulation yet but figured even if they were there probably wasn't enough feedback on them.
