I doubt the bends in the support weaken the chassis **IF** wall section & OD were FEA'd to resist load deflection. Unfortunately, the entire sled is a compromise & only time will tell how strong the chassis is.

The video is nothing more than marketing hype from Yamaha. A Yamaha employee isn't going to do anything but lay it on thick & heavy. Time will tell & the Viper aint much.

The Apex is due for a replacement. Sure would be nice to see that awesome 4cyl slung low in a new lightweight Yamaha chassis & not shoehorned into something it was never meant for.

The comment insinuating I didn't attend is perhaps the most idiotic post I've seen. I enjoyed the laugh, though. But from one snowmobiler to another, put Stud Boy 6" Shapers on the center, Doo 4" on the outside, full or near-full preload on your center shock. That'll get rid of the 'tank' feel...

Precisely the point w/the entire Viper sled! It's not an innovation, it's merely an integration!!!!!! A Lincoln MKX is a Ford Edge. A Viper is a Cat. End of story.

It's overrated.

We won't know the affects of the header until fuel mapping is dialed-in. One of the sleds in my demo group just quit. No warning, no sputtering, it just quit. It restarted after 4-5 tries but the fuel mapping needs work as stated by Yamaha.

All I can say is I wasn't impressed. Yes, it's less tippy than an Apex or a Nytro but it's not all that's it's being hyped as. And calling it a Yamaha is a stretch, it's a Cat.

Snodeo was fun. Get there early. I did & was in the 2nd group out, trail conditions were good. The Vipers are underwhelming IMO.

There's no other reason to partner w/Cat other than to avoid the expense of developing their own chassis. The Viper's a phase-shift for Yamaha, they're possibly headed to being only an engine supplier. Suzuki's on the edge of insolvency - I don't think any sled/bike/ATV builders are making hay...

Test drove a Viper RTX SE & an LTX SE today. I was in the 2nd group out, the trail was fresh. The RTX darted & the rear fishtaled. The LTX darted but then pushed w/the slightest amount of throttle. Darting & pushing can be resolved w/better carbides & proper setup although, I couldn't see how...
