Maximum RPM Issues on modified 2014 SR Viper LTX SE

Thanks again. I'll add some tip weight then. 50Y weights with a 4-2 setup at heal, 0-0 for mid and I'll start with 0-1 for tip weight (currently 0-0). Hoping this gets better shift and will absolutely drop the RPM slightly. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Maximum RPM Issues on modified 2014 SR Viper LTX SE

Cannondale and TD Max, Sorry for the lag in response here on this topic. Been VERY busy with work. I really appreciate both your inputs.... you both definitely know way more than I on this topic for sure! Cannondale is right, I am not completely understanding this... I would think that in...

Maximum RPM Issues on modified 2014 SR Viper LTX SE

Cannondale, Thanks as always for the info.... I WISH I could go faster! That's the issue.... I WANT more speed!!! When Allen set up the clutching and gearing it was to get 105-110 MPH out of the sled with my fat@** and gear (265-270 lbs total). ;) That's what I am hoping to get once things...

Maximum RPM Issues on modified 2014 SR Viper LTX SE

So last night I checked track tension and ski alignment. Found a couple things.... Ski alignment was right in spec. When taking the belt off to do track tension (so I can more easily spin the track by hand) I noticed that the belt is not going to the top of the primary. It appears to be...

Maximum RPM Issues on modified 2014 SR Viper LTX SE

It seems to hit that 9100 then drop to 9050 or 9000 and then maybe climb back to 9100. . Never more than 9100 so far. After today's riding (same conditions as yesterday but around 15-20 degrees F) I was around 8900-9000. I am about to jump into the garage and verify track tension and ski...

Maximum RPM Issues on modified 2014 SR Viper LTX SE

Ok... Got to camp and checked the primary cam arms.... They are 50Y. I did the initial inspection and the clutches seem to be in good working order. Therefore, I did a bunch of testing making changes to the secondary spring as requested by Allen. I also spoke with him today before my testing...

Maximum RPM Issues on modified 2014 SR Viper LTX SE

Thanks for all the good info. I just got off the phone with Allen. Such a nice guy and a pleasure to work with. He thinks it could possibly be a bad spring in the secondary or maybe a bushing in the secondary getting bound up. He said for me to take it off, take a good look at it for any...

Maximum RPM Issues on modified 2014 SR Viper LTX SE

I also am having some issues with my 2014 SR Viper LTX SE getting anywhere near the max RPM's. I had Allen Ulmer machine both the primary and secondary and set up both clutches for the low elevation sport trail riding that I do out here in Maine; using the 8DN belt. Amongst a plethora of other...

    Primary clutch issues (ulmer)

Not to take away from Hammer70's issue but I also am having some issues with my 2014 SR Viper LTX SE getting anywhere near the max RPM's. I also had Allen Ulmer machine both the primary and secondary and set up both clutches for the low elevation sport trail riding that I do out here in Maine...

    innovate boost/air fuel gauge

funny you say this because I mentioned this to innovate when I was on the phone with them.... "Hey, don't people with boats use your stuff?" The guy said "Yes" but that they must be "specially housed" to avoid contact with water.... or too much water. Maybe it's easier in a boat configuration...

    innovate boost/air fuel gauge

Yamadog, that's a pretty setup! I'm still not sure I want to go through all of the costs and setup of these gauges only to still have problems with them from day 1 and still have to replace stuff each season. I would think for the costs and time involved these gauges should last longer than...

    innovate boost/air fuel gauge

Just got off the phone with innovate. NONE of their gauges are waterproof. In fact, the tech said NONE of their gauges are really meant for outside use.... they are meant for "in cockpit" type of surroundings...not exposed to the elements. NONE of their gauges can be power washed or exposed...

    Belt damage?

Here's some feedback on the Belt situation. Epi only offers a 60-day guarantee so there's nothing that can be done through them. Yes it was $100 mistake on my side and probably should have done better research last year when buying a belt. Gates offers a one-year snowmobile warranty and...

    Belt damage?

thank you very much for all your time and help with this information. I'm going to contact EPI and see what they say. I'm suspecting or at least hoping it's just an isolated incident with one of their belts. I'll get back to the thread once I get an answer from them.

    Belt damage?

Cannondale, THANK YOU VERY MUCH ! this was ultimately what I was expecting to be the case . . . The belt must not be the same as the gates, Yamaha or dayco belts . . . Or indeed it is just an isolated incident with epi. I'll contact them and get back to the thread and let everyone know how...

    Belt damage?

ok-- great to get such a awesome education! Here's my dilemma... there are no washers on the backside of the secondary. They have already been removed. It's just the 3 bolts with no washers so how do I loosen it more if there's nothing to remove? The primary (at least that's where I think...

    Belt damage?

Cannondale, thanks for the help. I will try this. Simple enough to add a .5mm (90201-061 H1) or 1mm (90201-06037) washer to each of the 3 bolts on the back of the secondary. If I am understanding this correctly this will ultimately adjust the secondary's sheave clearance... which right now is...

    Belt damage?

Oh and I forgot to mention that the belt deflection might be actually a little too loose. Based on the paperwork I got from Allen it states that if you put a straightedge across the center of the secondary spanning to the center of the primary and push down on the Belt you should get a Max of 1...
