Sounds to me like you should be doing the quality control at YAMAHA, PSCHYOSLEDER! I know a lot of guys who bought NYTRO's and you seem to be the only one having this issue. My buddy jumps his like a madman and still no problem. Do you see a trend HERE!
you bent your upper control arm! pull it back and ride the thing. did it to my phazer turning in the yard on a small rock sticking up. no roblems since i pulled it back and i jump it on my mx track!

the sputtering is most likely the rev limiter. han an s/c apex do it....had to throw some serious weight to the clutch to keep the revs down with all that extra power!
tell your dealer to order part# 90891-50149-00. it is an update kit with all parts included to change to the '08 arm/link set-up. also have him install a fan kit #8gj-12405-00-00

no other makes have had a three cylinder four stroke to try their clutches on. also it is the sliding arms not the weight arms that are making all the racket. install a yamaha damper kit part # 8es-slidr-kt-00 and the noise will be gone.
The small METAL latches that hold down the back fire screen can come loose and cause major damage inside your engine! The head of the aluminum rivet can break off and let the latch roam free in the air box. Check yours before it is too late!
remember, the transfer rod also controls coupling of the front and rear of the skid. remove it and it may kick pretty hard in the stutter bumps. on the plus side, it will eliminate that annoying banging noise you hear in the slow speed rollers!
My Phazer was overheating on a ride last winter, too. Stopped at a buddies house and drilled 6 holes with a 1.5 inch holesaw, evenly spaced, in front of the radiator in the plastic that covers it. After that, no more problems. It looks cool too!
